I just bought the game (gold edition) which comes with the AoE 3 and AoE 3 the war chiefs, and I just tried it and runs fast, but when there is a battle between boats, little army men (a crazy battle)  the game becomes really really really slow ( my computer is new, I just bought it, it has a 6600 quad core 2.4 Ghz processor, 2 GB ram and I dont see how the game can be running so slow on this computer), I also tried putting all textures to low but the game is still slow. is there a particular setting that will speed up the battles?

 please help me

has anyone experience the same problem?

i'm running windows vista (do you think that might be the problem?)

There is times where it is laggy

To make account

click eso online

it will be updating game

then once you have the login window click new account (1 account per cd key)

then click ok and your ready to play

OK first of all AOE only utilizes one processing core so having four helps you none. What you need to overcome the slowing down of the game is a good graphics card... Most pre-built computers don't come with an amazing graphics card. Recently I purchased a $150 graphics card so I could run AOE at max graphics (it works GREAT) here is a link to where I bought it from http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130086 since I purchased it they have discontinued it but a graphics card with specs like that will run the game nicely.

Ship  battles are very performance heavy.  While that is a nice video card, depending at the resolution you are running it may not be enough to keep things smooth on the water.

I run the game at a resolution of 1680x1050 (22" widescreen) with all graphics on max except for footprints which I turn off cause I don't need to see em' . I have 0 lag with ship battles (except when online vs people whos comps can't take water battles)

Farmboy runs this game on better resolution then I do, he must be the supa rich sorta farmboy. He also has a bigga screen

Back on topic, can you specify the graphics card, mate? And like ChaobSiroc said this game doesn't utilize dual/quad core support, though I wish it did.......
