It's been a while I posted a topic, and even longer that I posted a noobish one. Perhaps this will break both those trends

Anyways, I have an issue with Russians in vanilla. They seem to be a bit OP. If you guys check my elo (my username is same as here) you will see that I have recently taken to laming Russians. With them I have beaten up to Lieutenant colonels, and I am well aware that I'm no match for people of that level (I use quicksearch for 1vs1).

The lameness is unbelievable. My only recent 1vs1 losses I have to fellow Russian players who I made terrible mistakes against. My 16 game 1vs1 streak was entirely made up of lame Russian victories. I think they need a small nerf, though not yet shure what.

Comments? Or are they fine and balanced? Please give opinions, I want to rid myself of the guilt

Well here is my oppion russia is balance enough because there units cost a good price because there weaker then other civs units and they are balance if they were nerf they would get bit hard i mean it they would.

Yes, they are op and it is not a joke. They have a good eco due to cheap units and with skill you can get a great eco. Yeah they can get rush easily but other than that they are one of the best civs in Vanilla.

naw they're not lame. The people you played against probably don't know how to beat Russia or made some mistakes. I'd like to know how you beat Ottoman as Russia though. When I use Russia (a while ago) I almost always got owned by Otto Spahi FFers and most of the times by jan rushes. When I play Russia with Ottos (my current civ) I never lose because I spahi FF (see the strat I recently posted here)

russia has a huge weakness to horses, especially powerful ones when russia is in age 2.

LOL, I don't know if you remember Lordbob but we had a 1vs1 in quicksearch and you totally pwned me with the afore mentioned Otto FF

Otto Jan rush is soooo easy to beat, Russians outmass Otto too well early game and Otto can't rely on janissaries as Russians have strelet. So Otto needs to make either a stable or artillery foundry; at the cost of not enough janissaries.

Otto spahi FF is what really gets me; you saw that much. But not everyone plays as Otto, so that doesn't matter

Oh, and I generally vs Captains in vanilla......I hear that competition on vanilla isn't as strong as it is on TAD....but w/e.

That is off topic my friend; I don't want to get this thread locked before the topic is discussed properly.

But I play Russians most (see my elo for proof lol) 

Just wanted to know so I can tell you what units to use and what strat...

If you go Russians, send Cossacks as your first card in Colonial and spam Strets.
