Subject: What are the differences between Arquebus and Musket?

I'm not talking about them in game. I would like to know what are their differences in reality. I only know that Musket is more powerful and complicated than Arquebus but what are the actual differences?

     Anyone know about this?

Well, I think these are the main differences:

    • Arquebus was earlier than the musket
    • It had shorter range (contrary to what AoE3 would have you believe..)
    • It had a faster rate of fire
    • It was physically larger
    • It was much less accurate
    • The Arquebus used the Matchlock, whilst the Musket used the Flintlock (I think!)

So basically, the Musket was superior to the Arquebus in all aspects (other than it's rate of fire), but that didn't stop the Arquebus being one of the most deadly weapons of it's time!!

The Arquebus(from the Dutch word Haakbus, maybe that's the reason that the Dutch got early skirmishers Smile) was a small gun that was easy to carry, the Arquebus was the prececor of the Musket. In an Arquebus they used a wick.

From the 17th century the Musket became a lot more important because it was a better gun only not in a country like Japan because not many guns were allowed there.
