Age of Mythology Stats Server and IE 7
IE7 does not support Aom or TT. Simply you have to uninstall IE7 and use IE6 for either game to work. Firefox is better anyway use that instead. Posted by: _tEk_Plague_ This is "Age of Empires" forum, not "Age of Mythology". i have no clue what your talking about. Try posting in tech support or email some more i dunno. |
|
Yes, and this forum is for all past 'Age of' games not Aoe3.

| IE7 does not support Aom or TT. |

No, the other way round is correct. AoM or TT does not support IE7. The problem is not IE, its AoM/TT. This is confirmed by Microsoft support. | Simply you have to uninstall IE7 and use IE6 for either game to work. |
|
No, using a fully updated OS is the recommended configuration. a) ES has to respect this because ES products are published under the "Microsoft Games" label. b) During the holidays i will upgrade my system to Windows Vista (via MSDN Academic Alliance). How can I go back to IE6? | Firefox is better anyway use that instead. |
|
I'm currently using Firefox 2.0.0.1 In case you didn't know: There is no official way to uninstall IE. So you have to update that b*tch constantly even if you don't use it.

Age of Mythology Stats Server and IE 7
Hi bro, i have same problem with IE7 i uninstalled it and turn back to ie6 but now the error is repeat. i can't connected to the eso stats server i reinstalled ie7.. i can't connected to the stats server. Imho ie7 is not compatible to AOM Titans. I emaild microsoft, i emailed ensemble studios, but no answer for all. AOM TT community want a stupid attention. I hope Ensemble studios open the eyes. Posted by: PurSpyk!! Hi
There seems to be a problem with the Age of Mythology Stats Server and Internet Explorer 7(this might not be the correct place to ask this question, but contacting Microsoft Game Support has not helped at all!). When loggin on, there is an error "Error connecting to stats server. Last saved rating will be used" Age of Empires III has no problems. I have contacted Microsoft Support and all I reveived was a email listing steps I had already gone through and this was mentioned to them. So basically I received no help, and cannot play the game correclty. I am a Windows Vista and Internet Explorer Beta Tester and this problem was also reported, but nothing was done. Any ideas, please? |

For what it's worth, I am finding a lot of 'issues' with IE 7 and some of my legacy software (HP Director, for one) as well as many posts about incompatability with IE 7 and some webservers.
Try this, my friend (it might save you having to un-install IE 7):
emulate IE 6
How To 'emulate' IE 6: go to the MicroSoft Download Center website, and download the "User Agent String Utility version 2". Once installed, this will make your IE 7 browser 'appear' as if it's really IE 6 (to remote webservers such as ESO). After the install completes, a desktop icon called 'User Agent String Utility' will be present. Just double-click it, a message will pop-up explaining what's going on and an option for you to 'Change Settings' or Cancel. Click 'Change Settings' and an IE7 browser screen will launch with a title 'For Testing or Temporary Workaround Only' and a description of the utility. Leave this browser open (you can Mimimize it) and launch the ESO portion of AOE III. Works like a charm. Note: the IE 6 'emulation' only works for the period of time the browser is open. Once closed, any future launches of IE reverts to IE 7 (unless you launch the Desktop utility icon again). Here's the link for the download from MicroSoft:
ps - ran into this fix on my own, could not get the ESO part of AOE III to fully launch. It would hang my desktop, requring a Power-On reset (ouch !).. usual tricks did nothing (CTL-Alt_delete, etc..). After installing the Utility, my ESO problems went away (so far). Good luck.

Age of Mythology Stats Server and IE 7
Posted by: Hurr1CaNe_ What is the server maintenance work on the 3oth exactly for? |
|
After ES put AoM and TT on one 400 MHz server and blocked access from community sites (to kill rating tags and player information sites) they found out that this server had too much RAM (64 MByte). It stored lots of advanced games that were not existing, especially when sorting for gametype. Now with the reduced memory of 16 MByte for AoM and TT this will never happen again. The number of advanced games is limited to 30 and max population is now 1750. When ESO is full you will receive some cryptic message (ESO is not responding, wrong language settings, cannot connect to stats server, and so on). HTH Peter

My posting contains more facts than all official statements plus some spicy irony. It has not been clarified or disclaimed by Ensemble Studios Inc. Here are the useful contributions of 6 months of community management. Please choose your favorite: [ ] At this time I do not have any new information about a patch for the Titans. Age3 is still the priority. ( sure and after that it will be Halo Wars) [ ] Currently, I have no information about a future AoM/TT patch. ( says all) [ ] I have forwarded this thread [...] so someone can look into this issue. ( your mama?) [ ] We have been looking at some possible solutions for this problem [...]. We'll try to keep you all updated. ( yeah, like the details about the server maintenance - just keep on trying) [X] We are investigating a work around. Once we have more information we will post. ( after Duke Nukem 4 is released...) Note: the last "useful contribution" was made 6 months after the IE7 problem was reported.
