True, I also tried emulating with the "user string agent utility" but it doesn't seem to work. The_Vandhaal is right I think, this has got nothing to do with IE7 in se but more with the security patch that comes along. It shouldn't be that hard to use the eso2 upload system for eso1, right? It actually makes me sad that Microsoft has blocked one of his own games, talk about bad research.

Yep Microsoft blocks his own stuff...maybe even worse...they still sell the game and a none functional stats server cannot be compared to a "not availably custom scenarios design" feature in aoe3 or a "buggy officially bug free" editor in aoe3

but mark my words......thats just their policy
They will declare aom and the eso1 stuff...as outdated software....and simply say...that it is not longer supported.....lol maybe even close it down

remember the msn zone ?....same thing....they could not hook it up anymore with "newer soft and hardware" , declared it outdated software...and closed the cd rom section down......amazingly the guys from slidegamers have build exactly the same lobby system as the zone......and guess what ?... it stil runs smooth with new hard & software

Well with the closing of the msn cd rom zone.....another microsofty/es game lost its online feature more or less......AOK....offcicial solution from microsofty/ es......go to gamespy hahahahaha

Well lets see what or if the official Es guys answer in this official forum.......but I bet it will be not much or pretty close to what I have descibed above

Lets hope I got it all wrong and that the post made by ES_Thunder and ES_Paragon are not just "blanks"

I think Thunder meant that they had already tried some stuff but didn't manage to find one that solves the problem.

@Es: Honestly guys, I can understand that you don't want to invest more money in creating a patch for AoT and that you focus more on AoE3, that's logical. I don't even think a patch for AoT is really necessairy, the game is more or less balanced anyway. I would expect though that people who are capable of programming complex games like AoT/AoE are also capable of fixing "simple" connection problems with a software program that is created by a company they work together with or have worked together with.

Don't keep us in the dark guys, a lot of people still play this game. If you are seriously looking for a solution, then so be it, but if you aren't doing anything, then just tell us instead of giving us false hope.

We are still looking into solutions for this problem - I really don't have a more elaborate update that I can give you guys right now. I hope in the next couple of weeks we will have come to a resolution on this one way or the other. Yes it can be fixed, or no it can't be fixed because...

So the new server maintanance hasn't got anything to do with this?

Tomorrow's server maintenance is Age3 and TWC only.

Figures *is hit by a large ban cannon*...but it's good to see Thunder is still alive and well (unless the reason he doesn't post is beacuse he's bound and gagged in a Masusoleum)

Well, I know it was stupid of me, but I uninstalled IE7, and that seemed to work... But I was wondering, what is that "critical security" thing that I uninstalled, because it could just be something that I don't need in the first place. I've been fine without IE7 for this long, what difference should it make. I had it installed for about a week and didn't see any difference except that I had a shiny new icon on my desktop that wasn't being used. Is it really so important to keep IE7 installed?

The new proxy thingy solves the problem....without having to uninstall important windows stuff....good job ! The one and only real ESO is again fully functional !
