I'm still hangin in with TWC..I don't think TAD keeps with the original concept of this game..(New world expansion)..If I wanted asian civs..Aoe2 is where to look..IMHO.

This is unrelated to TWC itself, but I really wish that AOE III starts right around 1450, just so that the Byzantines could've made it into the game.

Well, the Byzantines could be both conceptual and historical...incorporating their elements from before they fell, and tossing in some "future" ideas.

Many of them drawing upon their fire-based weaponry.

But if i remember right, Italy didn't exist at that time, it became a country, much later.

but as Germany was in the same situation, they could include Italy too...

Yes, the Italians should've been in the game, no doubt about it.

They were fragmented, but like you said, so was the Holy Roman Empire.

Did the Byzantines have anything to do with the colonization of America?

No, but then neither did the Ottomans.

    Or the Chinese.

    Or the Indians.

    Or the Japanese.

actually Ottomans do have something with the American colonization, as far as i know, they were not letting trading ships from other countries use the shortest route to the Indias, they were like monopolizing that area, so other countries, wanted a new route, and them, they started all that navigations, around Africa, and then, found Americawhen trying a new route

about Asians, i think ES and BHG were wanting something not related with America, or maybe they were thinking about IF Asians found and tried to colonize America

Well under that criteria for the Ottomans, I guess that makes them viable under those circumstances (although ES included them simply because of their influence in the world, not just that alone).

It's not like it would be historically inaccurate to have Byzantium in the game though, I mean, the Ming Dynasty (Well, that and the much later Qing) are which the Chinese in TAD are based on and the former existed at the same time as the Byzantines did, and considering how unique they are, it could make for a pretty impressive civ.
