ports are mostly a FF civ. once i saw a BO that got you on age3 earlier than 7mins, it's pretty easy to do, just send no cards on age1, age with 500 food and ship 700 food and gold

Portuguese can ff then they cna maek organs gun + dragons or cassadores + dragons..
Or somme another surprising strategy: semi ff with musket before as early as you can. It can work when you have dutch or otto on team, even brit...

Sorry to correct, but its much better to send Colonial Militia in the first age and age up 0:30 to 1:00 later. This way, if the opponent rushes, instead of aging u can get up to 42 colonial militia to kill them (although getting them all out at once isnt advised) Still, it provides insurance against this likely possibility. Also, whilst ur aging to fortress, gather coin and wood, build a barracks and a stable, and ship 5 Mamelukes as soon as u advance. 5 Mamelukes will beat 50 Crossbowmen, so combine this with cassadors from the barracks or age up and u can hold them off until u outboom them.
But dont play Ports against Brits, theyll pwn u. Sad but true.

Heres my strategy for the Portuguese.
Gathering in the start
Start off by getting 10 food gatherers wait and get 1000 food build 10 more villagers then use wood shipments to get 800 wood build 2 mills, use the 20 villis to get about 2000 more, then get 800 more wood and about 400 extra and build 4 houses while doing this "Odvioulsly" Aand get about 4000 food before advnacing, When you advance Get 20 wood gatherers and then use shipments to get the amount of gold needed tp upgrade, Upgrade to age 3 and get 30 more villis on plantations getting gold, and if needed use trade posts to get extra gold.
Starting on Military
Now you should have about 2000 wood about 10000 Food and about 5000 gold, Start by getting about 25 muskets, use them to protect your base, then start upgrading soldiers, get about 4 organ guns and send them and 10 muskets near the enemy base, Start screwing with the enemy towers and buildings, wait till they charge to kill you then use the muskets to rip them apart.

Mate thats total waste of card. Ur wasting 800 ressources (for militias) just to force him to retreat. After that, what would you do? You're on an eco crisis and besides, how're you gonna pop all that ressource while performing a FF?
My opinion on port: they dont have villy shipments, so there eco is slow. Even if they can boom with 2 tc in age 2, the extra vills still cost food. So, the best solution is FF: organs own badly and inf ur opponent pops out in colonial.
As first card, on TAD i send in eco theory, but on villa perhaps 300 wood: it's a TP and alouds to you to shipment spam once in fortress.
PS. Never use hackapells (except vs russians): they suck like hell...

You need not and should not send 700 food in age 2. Age up 500 food and you only need to gather 700 more food (before the 700g shipment has arrived and has been gathered)which is not hard to do. In fact, you'll have around 1500 food when you have 1000g so you can make a couple of villies from your 2nd TC as soon as it's up. Just make sure you have 300g, send 700g and age up. Then you'll have a shipment ready to be used in age 3 which you'll reach around 6:10-6:30. If it takes over 7 mins something has gone wrong.
