    will this cause any viruses?

ofcourse not, you arentt doing anything that shuts down firewall, you are simply allowing your connection to be more open for certain applications, like aoe3.

Only half correct. If you have a router it shouldn't increase the possability of a virus. If you don't have a router (ie connected directly to the Internet) it could potentially be harmful.

I assure everyone here it is not harmful, ICMS only allows communications to be better, but does not open up to viruses

When I configured the protocols for AOE I selected to all protocols and all comunications to pass through (which includes ICMS) from what I was reading it says that the modem also can have a firewall which can block your ability to connect with most games on AOE. So the next step for me is to contact my ISP.

Alright guys after 6 months I found a way to be able to join games, shame on ES.

Here's how I made it on vista :

    1. First browse to the My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\startup
    2. If there is not a user.cfg file then create one.
    3. Open the user.cfg file with a text editor; like notepad
    4. Enter OverridePort="the port number you want to use"
    5. Save the file and close it.

So basicaly I just created a file and I wrote overrideport="2307" in it and it worked, I hope this is going to help some of you. By the way, I turned off the windows firewall.

    ChaobSiroc:
OK I found the ICMP settings in Norton. When you unblock those settings that universally unblocks them, which may or may not be harmful to your computer when on other sites... I am going to try temporarily disabling it though later to see if it works.
Where is it in norton i cant find it id really appreciate some help.
