Hi. I have just reinstalled Asian Dynasties as per this post. A previous problem that miraculously did not occur when i installed Asian Dynasies (before I reinstalled it of course) has started to happen. TAD was installed on an external harddrive in the same folder that contains Age of Empires 3, and Age of Empires 3--WC. Now, when I want to install TAD, even though the concerned harddrive is plugged in, TAD by default installs it on my C drive (and of course the parent AOE3 files are missing). The only other Microsoft game in C drive is Gears of War which takes up 12 GB. So you can understand why I want to install Asian Dynasties on an external harddrive. To humor it, I first moved the Age of Empires 3 folder (with WC files) off my harddrive onto my C drive. Then I let Asian Dynasties install and it installed itself into this folder. So far so good. I even did a test run and unlike my previous problem (link above) I could play a skirmish round and it saved my home cities. Then I cut this folder and pasted it on my external harddrive. After a good 15 minutes, I rerouted any Asian Dynasties shortcuts to run from my external harddrive. But when I double click the "age3y.exe" file in the folder, it says "Splash sources could not be found" (or something like that). When I run it from autorun (on the CD) it says "Could not find C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\age3y.exe". I don't know what to do. Can anyone please help =( War Chiefs ran fine, it's just Asian Dynasties that's being so stubborn. I hope this made sense. I really want to play this game, any help is greatly aprpeciated. Thanks in advance!
<major edit> I have another external harddrive that contains My Documents (I
moved the default location from C drive onto that external harddrive).
When I unplug this external, and I run Asian Dynasties from the other
external harddrive (which contains War Chiefs), I get some buttons
grayed out including the Play button (more info here).
But when I have both of them plugged in, everything works fine. My
profiles and my home cities are saved, I can play skirmish battles. I
don't know why the game needs this other exnternal harddrive (which has
My Documents) plugged in. There are no other AOE3 related files or
folders there. How weird... I know this sounds so stupid. Of all
problems, it revolves around external harddrives which are supposed to
make things easier. Now with 2 USB ports taken , I can't plug in my
mouse and I'll have to use the laptop trackpad =s
