OK ya all, just more on this for info

Those of us that use the Belkin Wireless IAD Routers, I've worked out that you need to do the following to your router:

    1. Set the NAT up for port forwarding - use the drop down menu and AOE3 is listed within it. Add to the list and edit the range upto 2340 as suggested by ES_Lethe and Paragon

    2. Set up DMZ for full access make sure us public IP is listed as number 1 with your internal IP of the machine. No one can see this IP.

    3. Setup the special applications menu using trigger port 28800 with UDP and with public ports being 6667,2300-2400,47624,28800-29000 also using UDP. Make sure you enable it.

    4. Finally make sure you have UPnP enabled

If you use Nortons - do as everyone else within the threads have suggested

Since this I've so far been able to access and play every game ive joined without any issues!!

Ive done almost everything suggested and I still cant connect to all the games...I have all 3 versions of the game, I can host games and sometimes I can join them but it seems like 15% of the game I can join...Ive never been able to join a quick search game...

I fail to join 80% of games.

    Using Vista Home Premium 64-bit

    • I've turned off my Windows Firewall, my Avast On-Protection Control.
    •  I've also tried with UPNP off and on (and using utorrent and a UPNP testing application I can confirm that UPNP works on my router).
    •  I've tried forward ports 80 and 2300-2340.
    • I've made a fresh install of just vanilla.
    • I've tried the user.cfg method.

No luck in any of them :(

    Any more solutions?

I had this problem till my router broke, i got a new one and now i have never had 'failed to join' again. It used to do it on like 90% of my games - also my xbox used to fail a lot on games like gears of war. since my new router it works perfectly too :)

my old router just blocked a lot of things.. i didn't set it up. you just need to forward it i think.

Nope. My router is new and works fine with everything else (4 computers, 3 consoles, 1 iphone) all games and apps work perfectly online except AOE3.
