Hi

All my setting for AOE III TWC and TAD won't save. If I change my settings I they change but when I exit the gam eI can do it all over again. If I want to play skirmish and create a city the city won't be created because it doesn't save things to my hard drive. Please help me resolve this issue. My documents are on the D drive instead of the standard location but that wasn't a problem when running XP.

I have updated AOE III to 1.12 TWC to 1.04 andTAD to 1.01a

System Specs:

Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

AMD Athlon 64 x2 4400+ @ 2.587 Ghz

2GB DDR2-800

2x ATI HD 2600 XT 256MB GDDR4 in crossfire

MSI K9A2 CF-F

By default the game will save data (or attempt to save data) in your user folders; normally found here:

C:\Users\[vistausername]\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3

The most common cause of not saveing is if you have configured Vista to save your user data to a network share; Age3 does not play nice with network shared user folders.

The next most common problem is the game not having the permissions it needs to save to those folders.  What I generally suggest is to:

• uninstall everything, make sure the above folder is deleted.
• Reboot, reinstall the games, then patch up TAD.
• Launch TAD, change some options and exit the game.
• Check your D:\Users\[vistausername]\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3  folder and see if it was created.
  

As far as I know my documents are not shared or anything.

I also tried the second solution but no luck there.

Is there another solution to this problem?

My vista security settings are low enough because other games can write in my documents the only problem is AoE 3.

BTW I'm aware that every version of Windows is a virus that's why I would rather run Linux, but I can't because of program incompatibility.
