Re: Assault Technique: Clear & Rear
who's gonna use this formation leaving the siege wide open? i think he's just putting some random crap here so ppl will tell him how to fix that up...like who doesnt box their siege in nowadays, that's like saying sending one settler to build a rax/stable right in front of someone's fort, or putting japs' daimyo/shogun in battle instead of using it to spawn units last but not least, i like his thread title lol at least that served some purpose, "clear & rear"...for the enemy yea, a really clear area to rip ur units in pieces and yes from the rear side first, uh huh
EW_Kingston: I'm going to take ss and report u for putting up more than 4 layers of walls on purpose, they create lag
fail...

Vorpahl:To counter this, I would make 20 cannons and 50 ruyter, I think we all know what the outcome would be.
and that will leave u no room for villies hehe

Each Rueyter is 1 pop and falconet is 4, so it's 80 + 50 = 130, you actually have 20 vacant slots with this.

You play with 150 pop? I usually play with 200. And I am dutch so I can only have 50 villis...

no, captain numbnuts. 150 MILITARY population, plus the 50 villiagers. basic math here - 150 + 50 = 200 population.

Re: Assault Technique: Clear & Rear
- I can see that this strat is rubbish, and was probly written by StrategicJoel under another name, there are SOME positive things about this:
- The basic idea is not bad, to take out someone's army before you attack their town can be a good idea, this just isn't the way to do it.
- Splitting your army into two parts is also a good idea, it means that if your first attack fails your oppenent cannot counter-attack and smash you.
- I personally find that making units stay where they are helps a LOT in pitched battle. It means you can direct your units to 1 hit kills while not accidentally making them run towards the enemy.
- Finally, the idea of planning an attack before doing it is what makes a good player different from a bad one. If you think a strategy will work well, then do it, in this case it was merely the wrong strat.
To improve your strategy I would suggest these things:
- Add 2 more regiments: A regiment of anti-cav and a regiment of cav. Surround your cannons with the anti-cav, and use your cav to help your attack.
- Split your cannons (and anti-cav surrounding them) into 25%, 25%, and 50%. Put the 25% with your 2 attack units to aid their attack, unless you're using builbing only cannons.
- If your first attack fails, an idea would be to lure the oppenents army away from his base and then use your cannons to bust it.
Before you start flaming my post, please consider that I could easily have posted dozens of bad things about this strat.
-Feel free to invite me to a fight or DECENT clan- PR: 20 Win %: 66% Civ: Britain, Spain, or the Dutch Homecity: 81 but rising all the time Why the heck do some people not even punctuate or spell their posts properly?! Just use the spell checker!

DukeLeto:
To continue a stupid paper war,
Retreat some muskets when you see the cav starting to flank = owned
Attack skirms with 8 falc at the same time = owned
Siege base once your force is destroyed = owned
Anyone that uses Cav in this situation is an idiot, why waste your resourses on dead horses? 3-5 culverins will destroy all his artillery, and then you use it on his infantry while your CIR skirms rip his noob muskets to shreds.
It's a typically predictable noob strat that is easy to counter. I always make 2-3 culverins in age 3 just for the noobs that send or build falconets.

Hidan:How's he gonna destroy my army of cassas, culvs, organ, and goons with just musks?
Huge number of musketeers will destroy any army. Put half of them into melee mode and attack cavalry and artillery and other half in ranged for infantry. And depending on size of the musketeers army and your army it's totally possible.
