    Subject: upgrade or produce?
say i have 1k food and 10 settlers working on a farm, and assuming all market upgrades are already done, would it be wise to upgrade farm to increase gather speed or is it actually better to create 10 more settlers to gather food/other resources?

EW_Kingston: I'm going to take ss and report u for putting up more than 4 layers of walls on purpose, they create lag

ok Well this is my Strategy but you can do it to

At Age 1 you will need 15 workers in food and 15 on wood

then advance to the second age and put 15 workers on wood

Then now you can do your market upgrades by now

now you should have enough resources to age to the third age.

dont forget to keept ur workers going

atfer u are in the 4 age you can start working on your farms and plantations but do not mess with you workers that are working on Hunting animal,Mining wait to use them after all the mines and animals around you are gone

    i hope that helps

um I don't think he was looking for a strat. Training vills is probably the best option since more vills are just more valuable than resource upgrades. However if you are really low on food and those are the only vills u have on the res it might be best to get the 2 upgrades if you are in age 3 to get your food production up again.

Makig 30 vills in discovery is suicide. If you play any rusher, ANY RUSHER, You will get completly owned. To make 30 vills the MAKE time is 15 minutes. Plus gather makes that more like 18. A good rusher can be inside your base in 9 minutes. An okay in 11. A terrible rusher is 14 minutes, and that's still before you even start aging, even if you start out with 12 villagers.

Wow. Where did all the funny people go? I went on the forums to just check up on somethings (11-21-09) and everyones gone. :-(

Sorry I understand what you were asking for well. Well in that situation I would definitely make 10 more vills since getting villagers is the most the important think ecowise. And especially since you only have 10 vills.

well obviously the 10 villagers becuase then it would be a 100% increase in production, wheras if you research a milling tech it'll only give you an extra ~15%

Mantlets first are wood heavy units, and die fast from ranged inf..

Remember that gathering upgrades are a percentage of the base gathering rate. Un-upgraded standard settlers gather at the rate of 0.67 food per second from a mill. A 15% mill upgrade will up the gathering rate to 0.77 food per second. The difference, therefore, for 10 settlers would amount to about one additional settler, for 20 settlers about three additional settlers, and with thirty settlers about five additional settlers. So the more settlers you have the more the upgrades are worth. This is why it’s often best to ignore early upgrades and instead produce more settlers. Once you have your econ set up and have extra resources then you can start getting the upgrades.
