Hello,

I purchased AOE3 + War Chiefs a few days ago, and when I tried to create an online account to play multiplayer I got this error:

"Account creation failed: (101)
This CDkey cannot be used to create any furthers accounts"

I called microsoft and they told me to post on this forum.

How can this be solved?

Hmm did you purchase vanilla originally and create an account then? if so, you need to continue using your intial account throughout the expansions also. Im pretty sure you can only create an account using the CD key from the vanilla version, the expansions do not provide you with another CD key for a new account different to your vanilla's.

 If not, where did you purchase vanilla? for example if you bought it off ebay or an amazon seller, the game may not be brand new and the original owner may have alrdy used the CD key to form an account, in which case you need to contact them for the accounts details that they should have provided you when they sold the game to you.

 Afraid thats all the advice I can offer :') If you've forgotten your details but remember the email address you signed up with, you can use the forgotten details pages found on this site ^_^

"If you are receiving a [101] Cannot Create More Accounts with this cd-key error, that is because your cd-key is Valid, but was already used to create an account.  You will need to purchase a new, unused copy of AOE3 to create a new account. That error is not caused by this problem."

Does this basically mean I need to return the game to the shop?

The shop says call microsoft, microsoft says go post to this forum, and the forum says buy a new copy.

Hmm.. What is the software piracy situation like in Israel? I know that in some countries, especially in Asia, piracy is rampant and many used copies of Microsoft software are being cloned and sold as new.

Youre best chance is to call up microsoft customer service and complain, im not sure what the number is in Israel but im sure you can find it.

Your error means someone is online using your key or the key is fake.

I know a dude who rang up microsoft and made a false claim about something similar and he got a free key in an email in return, so try your chances, sound confident and give them your product ID number im sure they will give you a new one.

The box was factory sealed. The CD envelopes inside were also sealed. The store is as legit as it gets, the equivalent of gamestop or bestbuy.

I sent an email to age3.help@ensemblestudios.com but haven't gotten any reply.

Is anybody in charge here in the forum? In a position to solve this?

I'll give microsoft another call and will post my results, hopefully I'll be online soon :(

So, unfortunately, you just have to be patient. Look at the bright side, it gives you more time to practise offline, because online is way tougher than against the comp.

To all those pointing to the [100] error thread, try and actually read it. It's unrelated.

Posting irrelevant information just makes it unclear. The bottom line is this: the game is original, factory shrink wrapped, and it won't work online.
