Subject: Will the Real AoE series owners please stand up? :D

I wasn't too sure where to post this, so I apologize if this is not the correct place.

    Going straight to the point:

ES has been long gone, but I still don't know who "owns" the AoE franchise.

Will Robot Entertainment be the replacement for ES? Will they make more AoE games? If not them, then who will make more AoE games?

From Aloysius's message, it seems that Robot Entertainment may be releasing a patch in the future. That's what made me wonder if they were now going to be in charge of the AoE series.

RE is taking over the aoe, aom, and halo wars series. they may be making new aoe or aom games, theres some debate over that. i certainly hope theres an aoe4 in the future. RE already released 1 patch and may be releasing another, but probably only to fix bugs and hacks, not address many balance issues. theres some other other firm that has something to do with fire...? the name eludes me

    awww Aloysius banned me. Sad
hes so mean... does anyone actually read this?
if you're reading this know that i would probably have something to say to you if i could...

    Thanks.

The other company is called Bonfire Studios.

However, Microsoft stated that the Age of Empires series would stay with them.

I suppose, based on your response, that RE is thus the "official" ES replacement.

An AoE 4 or, perhaps, another AoE3 X-pack would be awesome. There's still plenty of people playing the game, and the series has a loyal fanbase. A good marketing strategy would probably lead to great results.

Microsoft owns all of the rights to the Age of Empires/Mythology Series (and Halo Wars), and it's up to them who does what with the IP.

so lets c ES/RE is the makers and the Developers and microsoft is the Publisher, so RE has to fallow what Microsoft says .

so if Microsot ask or say that to make a new AOM or AOE4 you guys will do that

Ok. I think that explains it well. Thanks Aloysius.

Well, hopefully Microsoft will decide to make more AoE games. I suppose if RE gets the job to do it, they would probably do it well.

It's the best RTS series. Big Smile

But when ES was around they could choose when to make their own games...

I guess they got good enough that MS just went "meh, whatever they know what they doing"

I'm quite sure they'll be continuing support for AoE and Halo Wars, but I don't think they're allowed to release titles under AoE, AoM or Halo Wars because those copyrights are licensed to ES/Micro$oft.

You are supposed to say first +1, then next poster says +2, the next +3, and so on. It helps agecommers to learn how to count. Now they can't learn how to count. Thank you, fagg.
