I've been going on these forums for quite a while and I've read quite a bit of strategies on the British. Most of them comprise some variation of musk/lb or musk/hussar. But I was playing my Brit friend the other day and he came out with pikes mixed in with longbows. I've never seen this strategy before. One could argue that its easily countered by a Spanish FF(what isn't), but so few people expect it as they all anticipate:

1. A pure musk spam

2. A musk lb mix

3. A musk hussar mix

4. Or even hussar lb

I'm no pro, but I know that the element of suprise can be huge. Is it viable at higher levels? i.e. Captain +.

I actually think Lbow Pike is the best strategy to use against Dutch and Ottoman.

For everything else pure musk or musk huss is usually superior.

No idea on dutch.

I don't think a longbow/pike would be very effective. Perhaps longbow. But I'd rather save my wood and go with the other two, Musks/hussars. I play Dutch quite a bit, I don't think pike would be all that effective. Dutch get skirmishers from the start, so they would kill pikes off fairly easy, and hussars would tear up those longbows. Just my opinion.

I was thinking the same, but you have to remember that longbows have great range and fire slightly faster than skirms. If you mix them with the pike, the opposition will have to have good micro to pick off the pike, which of course would guard against hussars. Some players don't know what micro IS.

Dude A musk hussar mix because while the horses are doing damage the musks will be shooting the enimie down. the lbow/pike suck because not as much heath.

Pike lb is the hardest combo to micro (i think), because of lb animation. You aren't getting the most out of lb ROF unless they are standing still and attacking the same target.

and no i think lb pike is good combo in age 2 against spain if u boom u can easily counter spain's opness i also throw some hussar in the mix if the game goes pass 10 mins if i hit 15 mins ill age up and fight spain with musk hus goon...
