    Subject: Japanese advantages and disadvantages

    Advantages:

    - very good infantry and cavalry units

    - good economy

    - daimios (no comment  )

    Disadvantages:

    - fewer settlers

    - not so good artillery (only advantage in this is that morutaru take few pop slots)

    Advantages:

    - Awesome military

    - Consulate/wonder boost attack

    - Can train units in blocks of 10

    - Shrines can make experience for shipments

    - Mortars get 44 range & can be boosted by a damiyo's aura

    - Good wonders (Shogunate, Toshogu Shrine, Golden Pavilion)

    - Consulate uniqueness: Dutch(Bank, Church, Arsenal, Musketeers / Mortars /Ryuter)/ Spain(2000 XP, faster shipments, rodeleros / lancers)/ Japanese Isolation(Bushido principles, Hatamoto samurai)

     Disadvantages:

    - Damiyo/Shogun trains slow, and they cant move while training units

    - somewhat slower training units (without damiyo upgrade shipment)

    - Can't hunt/livestock

    - Poor ranged cavalry (too expensive/weak without cards)

    - Flaming arrows get less range than a culverin

    - Too many cards needed in deck, less room for military cards.

    - Run out of coin fast

    - Ashigaru Musketeer / Damiyo / mortar main units

You yourself said 'few settlers'.  But overall, there economy is only average (why they lose to France), but there military is so powerful that normally an average eco does not matter.

Another advantage not mentioned: Hotomoto Samuari - Although they get used incorrectly quite often, they are crazy good when used in the right situation.

Why do you even make a thread about an insanely OP'd civs advantages and disadvantages? This is pointless.

    dcdonnie4:

The more costeffective army can win vs a more expensive (better unit) because they can just keep throwing them at the other player.

i would say that japan is the most op civ off all. better then russia and france. because honestly some yumis can pwn a russian infantry spam, and good luck using oprnichs against them 10 samurai can take out 30 opi in like 2 seconds. and samurai and yabushimi <--- (super cheap from tokugawa and 85 attack vs cav) make cursaiers irrelevant for france. and if france wants to throw in some volguitiers naginta riders just pwn

Unfortunately Gendarmes > Nag riders, France skirm > Yumi/Ashi, France Culvs and horse art > Flaming arrows, And last but not least France eco > Japan eco.

Btw don't bother with a france disadvantage/advantage, or any other top civ including British or Ports. Its pointless like jayve said.

yeah france eco is much better then japan.. but its close enough where it might depend on the player who wins the game

Perhaps at levels below lt, but once you get to 1 lt/capt, the france will always win.

China probably has the easiest army composition out of any civ at all.
