I'd dare to say that the problem is that the strategy u are using sucks. Googling around the internet on ageheaven and other sites to find new strategies to use is what almost all people do in the beginning. Once you have found one and you can do it correctly (not being delayed by more than 1 minute while doing it) u should get sergeant - 2nd lieutenant.

Once you have a good strategy then you should look further while using that and then you can actually improve. Best strategy from there on is to somehow get a good player to play a lot of games with you and have him help you, filter out the mistakes and maybe teach you a better variation on the strategy you are using.  

I think I neglected to mention that I've only been playing AOE3 since June last year. Not as though I've been on since 2006. I think my problem was starting out with Dutch. I'd played the trial a  weeks before buying it and I'd read the online reviews talking about how the Dutch were so "unique". It took me a very long time just to make level 3

I've tried EVERY civilisation except France, Russia and Aztecs.

The only strategy I've found mild success with is a Chinese strat which I got when SecretShogun <owned> me. He'll know what I'm talking about. That along with the Otto FI and of course the 10/10.

its funny because i've always been a corp/serg in sup, and i just dont care, it makes the game less chalenging.. thats what TR is for..

but yes play higher ranks and you will be better. like im serg, and i can keep up with 2nd lts, and the odd nub 1st lt like Jerom and noob basher like SS, nuff said.

When using it make sure you consider that it is for fp1.2 not RE1.03 (standard TAD patch) and so following it religiously will lead to confusion in some areas (I linked it to someone who wanted a build order for Sioux and they spent a while trying to work out how to get steel traps and a 5v colonial shipment)

OP -- this is GS's guide -- read it.  Re-read it.

Also make a decent deck -- for starters just copy what gs has and then consider modifying a few cards as you gain experience.

some people are just not fast enough to be good at supreamcy (this guy) try treaty see how you like it. because i played 200+ supreamcy games before i tried one treaty game and i was getting discouraged with how bad i sucked. then i tried treaty and had double my supreamcy rank in treaty within a week

if u wanna be a good rts player and improve your skills, supremacy is the way to go. Playing tr very very slowly improves your rts play.

Your rank may not be as high, but by playing supremacy you are a better rts player as aoe3 has the only treaty type game in the business.

Assuming this comment is in regard to finding the decks, if you use the link I posted to his guide you will see a deck after every civ.
