how high your rank is doesn't just depend on the amount of games you played. some factors that weigh in, from most important to least important: 1. RTS experience (preferably AOE1, AOE2 or AOM) 2. watching pro recs and copying builds (using your own builds when you're a beginner will just hold you back) 3. reading guides 4. talent/intelligence 5. the civ(s) you're playing the higher in rank you get the more important talent will become because at a high level it's the small things that make a difference (everyone knows what build to use and how to micro properly). i remember when i quit playing nr50 i was pr19, started playing supremacy with french and stayed at pr19 for a few days (all i did was mass musks in age2). then i played against a lt. colonel who spain FF'd and **** me, but the game was recorded and i copied his build. i got to major within a week. just to illustrate how important it is to copy strong builds when you're low ranked. it's all about getting as high a PR as possible so you can start playing against better players which will make you improve a lot faster.
