Subject: I'm in a Whole Heap of Trouble

Downloaded Age of Empires Online, but was met with a product key I had to put in.

So I went on the GFWL Client to get my code (if I had one), but it said I put in the wrong password.

So I told it 'Forgot Password", and it sent me an e-mail, and I changed it.

Then it told me to log in again.  Then it said it will send some sort of 'code' (irrelevant to the AOEO code) to another one of my e-mails.

Upon visiting that e-mail, I found out that GMail ALSO needed some sort of authentication.  But I don't have a cellphone, so I can't do their little 'activation code' thing.

Meaning I can't get my code for Windows LIVE, which also means I cannot login, which also means I cannot get my product key, which means....

I cannot play Age of Empires Online.

Might as well just make a new Windows LIVE Account.

You shouldn't need a cell phone to need any kind of activation code for gmail. Can you tell me exactly what it's asking for? (and is this because you forgot your password for that, too?)

No no, I KNOW the password.

But it has detected some 'suspicious activity' on my account, but that's probably because I've used that e-mail on multiple computers.

And now in order to activate that account and allow me to use it once more, it needs to send an SMS to my phone or something.

Sounds like gmail's standard two step authentication.  I use it personally to ensure legitimate access to my account.  If I log in from a new comp (or after 30 days on any comp i use regularly), it sends a SMS with an auth code.  Helps verify that I am me :)

With regards to the OP, It does not sound like I would be able to assist you with the issue.  I understand your frustration though :(

I also had this issue with Gmail. It did not need to send an SMS, as there was also an option for them to call you on a land line. A recorded voice simply plays a code that you enter into Gmail, and you're good to go.
