this game is actually survived for more than 6 years and quite a period since 2010 i discovered that the online players are keep declining. I don't wanna this game to be drown as me myself have stop awhile but about to rejoin this game, i hope age of empire 3 can keep rock until age of empire 4 (not the aoe online). And hopefully i can see more player than 2500 in some days. I hope AOE could survive longer.

To save a game after so long is a very hard process to go through and takes alot of work, but with AOE3 in the state it is in, IE still active, its entirely possible to ressurect it back to what it once was!

I, along with my clan have had our own attempts on Age of Mythology, and since we have tried we have managed to peak numbers by very small amounts, and if it is possible to do so on a game with not even a tenth of the users AoE3 has, then should it not be possible on AoE3?

Now the tactics we used was to host games for the communities that were dying, losing members, regardless if we didn't like the game we would host it in attempts to ressurect that part of the community. For example, if the DM community died, then we would host more DM games, but with HoR we aimed particularly at scenarios, as that has as of the last few years been the dominant game style. With AoE3 this is less so as Supremacy is hosted more often, and thus we could see good number prospects on AoE3.

the only way to get everyone back is to release a new patch.

 

this costs money so microsoft won't do it; releasing a new patch means they will eventually have to release another one, an endless cycle..

however if they just copied the fan patch i think everyone would be happy :)

how about making it so that players can join games without having to alter/open ports on their router ... I know so many players that I have referred to that thread 'the permanent fix for failed to join' and for each one that needed help there would be many more that never mentioned it or just quit playing ....

If anyone else is in to youtube like I am, then you would know that call of duty is very popular on youtube. I think the best way to get more people to AoE3 would be to get one of the biggest Call of Duty players to tell people about this game. Because i think this game is STILL one of the best out there people just dont know about it. With someone "famous" to tell people about it, the game will go up in popularity exponentially. For instance, there are people who have somewhere around 600K subscribers on youtube. If, somehow, we could get them to suggest the game to their subscribers, then that will immediately increase the number of people online. Then maybe the game will spread even more, and microsoft will decide to patch it, then it just gains even more popularity.

 Enable reactivate old account or CD key on steam including installation). As some old gamers may glad to rejoin the family of aoe3 but the matter is they found it difficult to install back the game may be they think it is very annoying to draw or search back the install CD from their miscellaneous storage. They just given up, i mean may be we can make it more convenient for old users.

The problem with tournaments these days on ESO is that they don't usually finish and people don't usually show up to play, even with a prize. Like in order for it to be fair, people would have to be at pretty much the same rank (like capt +) and it's hard to find a lot of people who are capt + that actually actively participate and show up. And the other problem is that a lot of people fail to join, so that won't work very well either if they're assigned someone to play in matchup. Oh yeah, and Nilla? Most good TAD players won't want to play a Nilla tournament. And if you're doing a TAD tournament, that means less people participating.

 

One possible solution which my clan has been doing for some time is training beginners how to play. You see, when I was a beginner I was lost and everything and I wanted to have somewhere to start and fit in. So I joined a clan that trained me and I made friends that trained me and after some time I developed a love for the game I otherwise wouldn't have had because I got discouraged easily. I remember leaving for a year back in 2008-2009 because of an issue I had with my computer and I didn't think much of getting back on because I knew that I wouldn't fit in anymore and I couldn't remember how to play and such. So that's kind of the thing I want to do with newbies is help them find a niche and train them to get really good so they would actually want to stay and not give up on ladders and competing and everything. If we are welcoming to them, they will stay longer. If we befriend them, they would likely not want to leave their friends for good, right?

 

tournaments are a good idea but not a tournament wich we know  who will win. for instance lets do a sarge and under tournament so the low lvls get interested. if we get 10 good players from lvl15 under they go to next tournament wich is liut-sarge and so forth so not yust brigs win. also try what nofw is doing make vids. try to get ppl to look up the game i love this game and playing wonline is awsome. i dont want this game to suffer the fate of aoe2. im no expert but id like to be able to enter a tournament and not be kiked out because capt+ are there only. as i said make tournaments for lower lvls only. those who are good can go on to the next lvl like in sports. this is my idea. they dont have to be heavy cash tournaments but 10 bucks or so is a start.

You don't understand the problem with sgt under tournaments. There are smurfs everywhere... looking for money.

of course i understand but thats why u can check win % and how long theyve been online. and if not for money. yust for the chance to go to next lvl tournament in wich there will be cansh this is my point if there are 10 out of a 100 those 10 get to go to next tourny :) i mentioned the cash thing but at sarge lvl we can skip that. also we would have someone narrating live perhaps u can do it or one of the pros or pro-hopefuls like GS or SS. and create an acct on youtube for that. we need to do something to keep the game alive. im depresed when i go on and only see 1000 players or less. :(

My clan tried hosting a tournament and we did the sgt under / 2nd-1st lt / capt + categories and come to find out some high rank person in the capt + category had a second account he was putting into the tournament for sgt under. Basically being two people. And the only way to find that out was checking to see if he was the same person on our website. You see, it's very difficult to find out if someone is a smurf or not. Regardless of their ELO / win %.

Play league of legends.
