I have been doing the german FF lately and im always low on wood in age 3, since i age up to age 2 with 500 food and ship 3 SW. I was wondering how u could fit a TP in the build so that u could ship 700 wood in age 2. here is a rough outline of my BO: age with 17 pop first card 2SW. age with 500 food. queue up 2 villies while aging to get to 19 pop. right when i start aging put all SWs on coin. when i get age 2 i collect food and put the new villies on food till i have enough to age. I also ship 3SW in age 2 and they usually go to coin. while aging is when the strat usually differs. I usually tend to go with the skirms politician, and leave 6 SW on coin 7 villies on food and rest on wood. Would there be any way to fit in a TP with a build like this without sacrificing much economy? bc i do not want to waste a shipment on 700 gold in age 2. How could i get in a TP while still having a decent eco? also i only leave 5 SW on gold if im not planning on mercs. Age 3 my first shipment is usually jaegars or landscknecht. second ship is often 1000 wood then probably skirms or uhlans depending on the opponent.

I would age up with 400 wood.

17 pop

age with 400 wood

collect food as your aging

once aged use 1 SW to collect wood

build TP with explorer

Send 3 SW

 

Now you have a choice:

Either do 6 skirm age up and send 700 wood for houses, rax/stable, market.

or

Fast Age up and save your shipment for age 3 (normally 8 skirm) and simply gather the wood you need with your vills.

Obviously the first method grants you a better eco, but vs hard rushes it will simply be too slow.

if ur collecting food while aging then how would u have the coin to age up to fort? and wouldnt the TP being up so late kind of defeat the purpose of getting it? because to me the point of getting the TP would be so u can send 2 ships in colonial and still having an early fortress shipment

The reason I said to collect food first is because when you are getting rushed/being harassed it is easier for them to take you off the hunts then the coin mine next to your base (assuming you have one)

You start building the TP soon after you hit age 2 with the 400 wood u collected.

You do get 2 shipments in colonial.  The 3 SW first followed by the 700 wood if you choose the eco FF and then you have one ready when you hit age 3.

 With the Fast age up you send 3 SW.  Your next shipment comes in and you are pretty much just about aged already so why use it on a 2nd colonial. 

 If you try and build the TP in transition by chopping 250 wood you simply hurt your age up time too much.  =(

how many villies would u make in age 2? because i usually have a few seconds of idle tc time with the BO i put but the ni start aging. does ur strat involve idle tc time? could u give me a few more details?

Almost never have idle time.  The trick is to que up the vills before you send 3 SW card so you are over popped when they come.  19/20 qued up then send 3 SW.

If you notice when you gather the 400 wood you will have 150 left over after you build the TP so you can either do a market plus hunting dogs or just add another house and be able to make another vill or two before you have to age up.

stefan i asked about age 2, not 1. and lancelotwould you gather the required food and then switch all SWs over to coin? or get to say 800 food and then switch all SWs over to coin or something?
