I wish they came out with another Age Of Empires, as AOE III is starting to die.

Ya it seems like all they ever make is new call of duty games which all are no generic..

thread number 594 on this topic. but to be honest i have no idea why they don't. yes i know ensemble is dead. but microsoft is kind of big enough to get someone else to do it. i mean every age of empires that ever came out moved millions of units, making millions of dollars.  don't understand why they would avoid this? i mean come on, the current RTS and pretty much all computer games market sucks and i'm sick of first person shooter on xbox ps3 etc

Though this thread is one of many I noticed aoe3 is now pretty rapidly dying tbh... I miss the days when everyone I knew was still active.

I'm disappointed in ms in terms of how they handled the sequel of aoe3 and if they are not coming with aoe4 soon they will have wasted a lot of fans tbh... 

Normally I don't like the Call of Duty Idea. They just release the same game with different graphics (just a lil bit) and some new guns/maps, but maybe thats a good idea for the aoe series. It won't cost ms too much money, but if they make a good game similair to aoe2 and don't try to change the game up too much, just update the graphics and make the civs a bit more interesting, then they'll have a 90% chance of succes while it won't cost them too much..

Oh yes, but that is exactly what the guy above me said. They got another company to try and make an age of empires game. It didn't turn out so well.

well they did a stupid job. their target audience is not people who watch dora and thats what AOE O is graphics wise

Sadly for us ES closed a few years ago, so we're stuck with some shitty other company :(

anyone know why it closed? seems dumb. AOE3  made bank, and what about Big Huge Games? aren't they the ones who made TAD? they did a pretty good job in my opinion

Big Huge Games also closed at the 24th of May 2012 :(

The overall activity numbers for AOE3 haven't been plummeting, they've remained fairly stable so far this year, with a slight decrease (mainly due to an expected decay after releasing on Steam)

 

With regards to AOE:O, It was initially designed / developed by Robot (which was founded by a bunch of ex Ensemble people).  Development now is being done by Gas Powered Games, who are doing some really great things with the title.  If you're not familiar with GPG, they're the brains behind TA & Supreme Commander (plus numerous other titles).  Needles to say, they've got an excellent RTS pedigree. Sure some people may decide the visual style of AOEO isn't for them (though we do get a lot of comments about how people like the look), but the gameplay is quite good.   

 

Lukas, I think everyone in the game industry was sad to see Big Huge (And 38 studios) closure. One great thing about this industry is that developers really aren't competitive against eachother.

But doesn't competitivity bring up the best in people ? Like make them try as hard as possible to do better than the people they are competing with ?

yeah i completely agree with u jerom, thats why i dont want nintendo to go out of business. cuz then all the console makers wont have to innovate since no one else is, since nintendo was the only company that innovated.
