Blank Screen and Game resigns at start up

Hi, I've had huge problems trying to get age of empires of install on Vista home 32bit. It came up with error 1305 and stuck at installing art/art1. I copied the files from the trial version and now its install and loads. BUT when i get to the main menu, all I can see is the loading options. The background is black - no home city. Then when I start a skirmish, all the option screens load fine, I can pick everything, load the game but instead of starting the game all I can see is my command panel and all the in game menu's but the background is black and there is writing saying I've resigned my game. I can't start a game at all.

If I try to load a campaign it just freezes.

My graphics drivers are up to date (nvidia geforce 8400m GT) and I've installed the latest patch.

and i have tried the following which I found through googling the problem.

Anyone got any idea's what's wrong?? Thanks so much in advance! I love this game and it played brilliantly on my XP. I don't want to go back to playing AOE 2 :(

Q. I am getting Direct 3D or D3D Errors and Initialization Errors, my screen is all black, or I am getting a error about "refresh rates", what can I do?
A. You game may be running at an unsupported resolution and refresh rate.

First, make sure your monitor is running at a supported resolution and refresh rate. Try changing your desktop resolution to 1024 x 768 at 75 hertz.

Then:
1. Create or edit the file My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3.
2. Startup\user.cfg
3. On a new line add the word "window", without the quotes.
4. Restart the game

Second try this:
1. Identify your current working resolution and refresh rate (or one that you know works) through your Display Property settings (i.e. 1024 x 768, 60 Hz)
2. For vanilla Age of Empires III, open the following file for editing: My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Users\NewProfile.xml.
3. Go to the resolution setting line (around line 30) that says this:
1024 x 768
4. Edit the resolution text to match the working resolution you identified earlier.
5. Go to the refresh rate setting line (around line 67) that says this:
75
6. Edit the refresh rate value to the working rate you identified earlier.
7. Restart the game

Hello to everyone,

It has been a long time since I bought aoe 3, and I'm still not abel to play it only. I've really tryed everything posted on the faq of this page, but I'm not doing any progress. The problem is taht when I try to join any game, a fail message will show up. Similarly, when I create a game, any of my friends is able to connect to it.

I've turned firwall and antivirus off, I've changed my ip, I've opened all necessary ports, I tuggle UPnP on and off,.. I did everything.

The only thing I'm really not sure about is the user.cfg file, since I really don't comprehend what should be written in the Ip adress override. When I put my static ip adress I get a message error from ESO, complaining about it. So, which one should I pick up?

I'm actually running aoe3 on windows vista throught boot camp in a macbook computer, and my connection is up to 100 mbps, which should be sufficient, no? Considering that I turn down every single task that could interfer with internet connectivity.

I'd really appreciate any advice,

my screen freeze every game

hello, i got a bad problem.

i play nr55 on tad and after about 1:30h gametime (+ - 10 mins), my screen start hanging completely.i can move my mouse but the game is freeze and i lag out.

the thing is, its not a problem of my internet, because while game is hanging, i can do all other things in the internet. my connection is ok.

my gtemperatures are ok, cpu usage is about 20% (normal) when game hang up.

i tryed another pc and i had the same problem!!

who can help me, nobody will play with me anymore if i can't fix this problem

Failed to Join Game

I havn't played this game in a while as I have been studying for year 12. I think my problem initially started a few months back when i installed the new patches, as I didn't have any problems prior to this, that i know of. Currently i fail to almost every game bar 1 or 2 if im lucky, up to 2 hours wait on a game.

I am on Windows Vista, as that is what came with my laptop, and i have a wireless router which is my source of internet, Thomson-Alcatel SpeedTouch536v6.

Things I have tried,

Powercycle
Forwarding ports 2300 - 2340 and 80. ( it said on the portforwarding website port 80 and 2300 2310) Checked to see if they were open with portforwarding checker.
I have made exceptions for age3.exe age3x.exe and age3y.exe through the firewall
Disabled firewall all together
toggled UPnP off/on
Played around with the logging, on one of the forums it said that if they both said no put them as both yes
I have a static ip adress of course
only thing im not sure on is the user.cfg
Also snoozed anti virus protector which is CA Anti Virus

Here are my port settings, just incase i have done something wrong perhaps

Unusual Lag Outs

I am not talking about drop tricking.

Lately my router has been losing connection for like 30 seconds which results in me lagging out of games. This has barely ever happened before, but now it's getting to a point where I cannot finish a game. I am really upset about it, I wanna play!

Any ideas on how I can stop this from happening?

P.S. Could it be bad weather even though my router is not wireless?

I just got new computer. it is still windows xp though. i go onto ESO start game and it start off ok, but it keeps happening to me this error! during a game about 30min into game usually is close and say error .... can anyone help me with this? if you need more information to diagnose the problem i will provide it

I'm trying to install AOE 3 i had it on my computer a long time ago until my graphics card got a really weird bug which is now sorted by getting a new graphics card

Now whenever i try to install AOE 3 is just tries to uninstall despite i'm fact i'm moderately sure there is no remnants of AOE 3 anywhere on system.

Anyone know how to get around this or locate what is causing?

I am not able to reinstall WinXP at the current time due to lacking certain necessary components. so need to try and work around that.

Looks like I was banned on the forums and in game for the little rant I just had on the forums.

I was unsuccessful at getting my game installed with the game that I bought, it kept telling me I had an invalid CD key for some reason, even though I was typing it in right. So I had to resort to downloading the game to see if I would be able to install it that way, and I used my CD key that I got when I bought the game and it worked. All I did was download the iso so I could install the game since there was something wrong with mine, what else was I supposed to do? I can't keep forking over money to buy this game, I already bought it twice now...

Now my in game account is banned? I never hacked, never cheated, I'm a fair player, always have and always will be. But my account is disabled, is there any possibility of getting it back? This is really unfair (yes I know life is unfair..) I'd rather not have to resort to downloading a game that I paid for but it was the only option I had. Now I'm getting punished for it because of a faulty product.

Just have to love life... I just got laid off, someone who I thought was my friend took 2 accounts from me on the other games I play and now this. The only game I had left that I actually bought, just so stressful. Idk why I'm even bothering to post this I know nothings going to change everyone seems to be against me.. **** everything.

I guess if it's possible I would at least like to get a reason why my account was disabled. Thanks... =\

i need help installing my Age of Empires 3 original

I have installed this game once before then i uninstalled it now i am trying to reinstall the game now when i tried to install it the game started to install normally then it stopped at

C:\... \Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\avi\CreditsCine.bik

i have retried installing it 4 times with the same result i need to fix this because this is my favorite game :P

I think i have a corrupt file(CreditsCine.bik) so cant install

I installed Age of Empires III and The Asian Dynasties on my pc, and their work very well.

Instead i can't to install Warchief.

I have tried in every way, but every time that I prove to install Warchiefs, it exit the message

it has tow error's messages:

1.-THIS PROGRAM DOSEN'T SUPPORT THE ''WINDOWS AERO'' THEME.

I click Accept and Then...

2.-THIS PROGRAM STOP'S WORKING

On my other computer (wich i sell) the game runned PERFECT well it had windows XP,

So.. Is it windows 7 or just an game error?

(I don't know my PC specs.. i don't know were to check them)

hi i've just installed Age of Empires 3 and i started the campaign

but during the movie i hear no sound and the subtiles go too quick for me to read what is being said, i've tryed re-intsalling but stiil no luck.

it's not my sound card cause all other games work fine ,including a New-er game called Call of Duty 4, and my speakers work fine.

whats can i do??? help!!!

3G connection and Failed to Join Game

I'm using a 3G dial-up connection (through a 3G modem) to play on ESO. I can join most games. Sometimes it gives me a failed to join game, but that does not worry me too much. Most games I can play.

What worries me is that my friend also uses 3G dial-up with the same ISP, so basically we would connect via the same 3G tower when we are in the same house. We just can not connect to the same game, it always says Fail to Join Game.

I tried override port and address but not sure if I do it the right way. I have also read throught the FAQ but cant see something that would help, since a 3G modem is just that, a modem, not a router.

Can you help with this problem?

hello guys im here to help :D

since i was banned (from forums) i had quite a lot of free time on my hands and tried finding the one time solution to these failed to join games.

and i did find it!

firstly...the answer is simple: port forward.

yeah im sure all of you already know this but ill just show u basically what is needed to join any game flawlessly!

download portcheck from here: http://www.portforward.com/help/portcheck.htm
on portforward.com find your router and click on age of empires 3 after that it will give you the instructions
BUT here is where you have to be careful: 2 things: while on portforward it shows only TCP protocol...if you read the FAQ you will see its also UDP *2300*. so forward the right ports with the right protocols (80, 2300 etc.)
2nd thing: make sure you know on what IP your opening the ports: for example i have my ps3 also hooked on to my router so at first i accidently port forwarded to my ps3 instead of pc. to make sure youve got the right IP address, use portcheck and on top it will tell you which ip address your pc is using. if your IP is dynamic (router assigns different one everytime, make sure everytime you turn on your pc/router you have the same IP address as last time. if its different repeat steps 1-5 for the new IP address
USE PORTCHECK AND MAKE SURE ALL THE PORTS YOU "FORWARDED" ARE ACTUALLY OPEN...once its shows "port is open" you are free to play flawlessly

I've just recently installed AoE III and i'm currently running Windows 7, i install it and i'm ready to play, when i try to open the game, i get an error saying;

ok so i go on computer right click on ao3 and it dosnt have the option to install the game i can just open the disk file and it has everything on there thats supposed to be there this is my GFs computer and i havnt had it on here for about a year but it works fine on my own computer

any ideas of how to get it to install - so far iv tried opening the disk file and clicking on setup.exe (setup launcher) and the install wizard starts running saying preparing wizard for install that finishes then nothing happens

any other ideas???

Ok, So here is my problem,

I insert the disc and it wont get read, Laser wont stay on with the disc, Doesn't show up in run or ADD/REMOVE. I Insert a couple other games to make sure it's not my driver and they work fine, I take the game to my moms computer and it gets read fine and I get the proper install screen after inserting the disc but on my computer NOTHING! Like my system doesn't want to read the disc! CAN ANYBODY HELP ME!
