exactly...i bought the game under the original conditions. That's why the policy is in place. So that a group of players an't hijack the system. Now they are welcome to modify it and plan between themselves via LAN...just not on the offical site with offical stats being recorded. IMO

I believe they are, which in my opinion is a problem as there are people who are essentially playing different versions of the game yet who are grouped with players of the standard game as far as PR and ladders go.

I think where the fan patch is optional and that you can only play with people who have it its not a big problem.

I can appreciate your "confidence" but I am telling you its wrong! Doesn't that concern you? As a fan I am telling you your collection criteria or process is flawed. At this point whether the account is unbanned or not does not matter. The concern is as a customer : WILL THIS HAPPEN AGAIN? what steps are you taking to ensure that my account is not compromised? There are no hacks or oos on my computer. So what are you doing to prevent this? Also you did let other account owners know this information. Yet you deny me. Why?

I find it suspect that you can't reveal on MY ACCOUNT when the supposed violations occurred. How does this undermine the integrity of your system (a system that is flawed to begin with!)? I think as a customer your obligation to tell me when my account was used to cheat is a piece of the puzzle that can help both you and I to finding the solution.

Your encouragement of me enjoying the on-line experience requires that I am confident in your ability to monitor cheating correctly. At this point you have not convinced me that you are capable of executing a solid program to remove legitimate cheaters. I am sure Microsoft who owns this game would also like to know what you are doing to prevent this.

My conversation with "Wally" ended with an understanding that I am not cheating. We established that the account had activity on it that was according to your data contrary to the on-line gaming policy. This would fall under :

(v) use any third-party software to modify ESO to change game play, including, but not limited to cheats and/or hacks

I turn your attention to this excerpt from microsoft's policy:

(viii) harass, threaten, stalk, embarrass, or cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfort upon another user of ESO or other person or entity; cheat during game play or in other interactions with other users, including but not limited to modification of the game program files or modification of game play results utilized by ESO;

The fan patch is a modification of the game files. Yet you have hundreds of players using a modification of the game program files. So what say you? Selective enforcement of the gaming rules? And to add insult to injury you have banned an account that did not have the ability to hack!

None of this would be an issue of ES truly wanted to eliminate cheating from ESO, which they could easily do in a variety of ways. For one thing, they could include the number of times that somebody disconnects from an online game in that player's stats so that potential oponents/teamates could know before a game whether the player was likely a drop cheat or a lagger, both of which come to the same in the end. They could do what other only multiplayer games do and make it so that if you disconnect, you lose. Simple. Done. That would motivate drop cheaters to stop altogether and it would also motivate laggers to do whatever they need to do to their system to prevent them from dropping unintentionally. ES could also work out bugs with regards to map hacks etc., but aparently they chose not to. I'm assuming this is because they will continue to make their money regardless and do not exactly respect their customers.
If a software company makes a game for online multiplayer, you'd think that they'd work stuff out like this, particularly after such a prolonged outcry from it's users. Go ahead, ask any player online who has played more than 5 online games, "do you know that AoE is rittled with problems with regard to cheating, and does it make you hate ES that they haven't fixed it?" They will all answer yes to both question.

Yet here we are, still, wasting time writing about it in forums that aparently have no sway.

ES, if I didn't consider playing your games a waste of time in itself, I would still have to say, you have wasted so much of my time and I'm going back to the other RTS games that are just as fun and don't allow major cheating.

1. Are you trapped in a time portal or something? ES has closed several months ago. Its RE who mantain the servers, you have got luck that they even released a patch for all the AOE3 games

2. Your 1st change to fix drop tricking is quite hard to be done, maybe even impossible. About the 2nd: Completely disagree, Not every game with a dropper is automatically finished, and not even the 40% of the "droppers" are "Drop trickers", also, I have won several games where my teammate was dropped from game but I still figured out to win, same for some of my opponents. And not necessarily if someone laggs it means that he wont return to game. In summary: it's not that easy to difference droppers from the ones that just have a little technical problem and the ones that are drop tricking. But oh well, would depend on the specifications of this change, and MAYBE it would be worth it.

3. ES has always fixed several bugs though patches, the problem is, that every time a bug is fixed, a new one appears. They supposedly somewhat fixed map hacking some patches ago, but a few players figured out how to do it. Map hacking is a very rare bug right now, and I wouldn't say that is really a pripority. Only thing that I would really like RE to fix somehow is the OOS, making the game to send data or something.

4. You are kinda exaggerting, In my last 100 games, like just 4 or 3 players cheated me. Its not really that important, yes, its annoying to lose a game that you have practically won, but what did you lose? 0.09 rank points? A 1% less in win rating? Life goes on, just play with someone else, and pest the cheater. f your rank is so valious, report him.

2) and it's only bannable to use other accounts if the account is reported stolen. If I logged into my friend's account, and no one reports it, I'm not an account thief by RE's rules. The account must be declared stolen for there to be something wrong.

1. Ok, just that, if he given his password, then it would be his fault. Also, it would depend in the way he was "hacked", I think that he could still use Account Management tool or e-mail aloysius or w/e.

2. Hmmm, I thought that anyone who used someone's else account could be automatically banned, maybe not necessarily, but could run a risk. But w/e, I am not 100% sure about RE's policy, so you might be right in this point.

My point remains, I do think there was a reason. The fact that you are possibly so stupid to not know/remember the reason, doesn't mean there isn't one. And why am I so sure to think that there is a reason in this ban and it's not a mistake of Aloysius?, the way you are replying and referring to Aloysius says enough about you. There might be a possibility (a very little one) that it was a total mistake, but, consdering the facts, I dont think this is the case.

Did he gave his password or someone figured out to guess his password? And why didnt he use account management tool?

Once again, you aren't allowed to use any account that isn't your own. When you do that, you are automatically identified as an account theft, which means a permanent ban. Even though I do agree that Aloysius needs to be less strict, and take in consideration every case, but still, once again, just use your own account.

Brett, well, I have no freaking idea who's that guy...

Kerkumus had one account which got banned because it was stolen by somebody. He still managed to play on other people's accounts who were friends of his and had lent him passwords. However, the b4b clan framed him with one account and Aloysius saw it as account theft, IP banning him and all accounts accessed by him. So now Cmontuptim, who was actually a friend of Kerk's, can't even use his own account. Aloysius screwed up, but isn't willing to spend his time looking into this one player's issues. There's a long discussion on this if you want to read up on what happened. The culprits of this were johnnyblaze7 and spoliopama (sp?) I believe.

Brett= predatorfreak. His accounts were banned because some other accounts were reported stolen, and even though he provided sufficient responses to each case (there's another thread on this), Aloysius doesn't go back on his decisions.

I think Aloysius has good intentions, but doesn't like to admit it when he's wrong. He's done some good for the community, but some things not as good.
