I played over a hundred games of AOE3 on dial up, the vast majority being 2v2, and I won over 70% of them. Yes, people will be pissed at you in game, and sometimes the lag is terrible, but it can be done.

sorry I meant install game in one of the PCs at a PC cafe and play it from there. Ask the owner if you can leave the game installed.

Well a better plan would be to use a laptop(if he already owns one) and just use it there. I have thought of doing this myself but I don't own a laptop lol.

Dial-up sucks but at $5-10 and you can get broadband at $15-20 it does not add up to much savings. Not buying a coffee for work, bringing lunch to school and work. Cooking at home instead of eating out is where savings come in. My parents both at one time have been laid off. My mother was laid off first and then she went to school. My father was laid off second and our family of 7 lived off of the savings we had and the unemployment money my father earned. Then when my father found a job we still had $10k in the bank he did renovations to the house and we still had internet. xD M

My mother(mostly but everyone in my family over 13 can cook a basic meal. Soup, pasta and so on. Cooking at home rather than buying frozen foods or eating out saved our family the most imo. But gasoline was still cheap then so it did not squeeze our pockets that much.

I say do absolutely everything you can to afford to keep a good connection. I pay through the nose for mine without any regret whatsoever. Without air, water, food and the internet I'd be dead.

And according to Microsoft, you can run vista with 512MB Ram....

Your lucky , pizzas here cost 4-6 dollars apiece(on average) . The most expensive part of the operation is the cheese , other then that I just need a bag of flour (which will last for even more then the twelve pizzas so you can divide the cost up from that) a can of crushed tomatos and a few other small things like seasonings and stuff for the crust . It dosen't really cost much more then ten dollars unless we get pepperoni (spelled right?) or somthing , and the pizzas last us for about a month . We also have a fleet of chickens outside laying free eggs for us heheh , All they need is to roam around the yard eating grass .Hmmm... Actaully , maybe if we let more eggs hatch we could have a whole army of chickens that can eat the lawn for us and then we won't have to mow it.

Well, I've hunted since I was old enough to carry a shotgun, and pheasants are an abundant game-bird where I grew up. However, I bought a cookbook to learn how to make egg noodles. As inexpensive as they are to buy, you can make egg noodles practically for free, although they do take up a quite a bit of your time. Chickens aren't exactly worth their weight in gold but pheasants can be had for the price of a twenty-cent shotgun shell if you are a decent shot.

With flour, eggs, oil and chickens you can make some pretty good chicken noodle soup. When I was doing my medical training I was dirt poor. Over Christmas break I would hunt like mad and bring back a couple of dozen pheasants. After grilling and eating all the yummy white meat, I would be left with backs and legs. I then made egg noodles and pheasant stock for pheasant noodle soup.
