i would say it depends vs which civ you play. lbows/piks need more skill to handle and lbows/cav its harder to spam because of the ressources. than is musk/cav better. but to play musk/cav is french better imo. for sure naturephoenix was very successful with lbows/piks.

lb pike can be strong if you can secure 2 hunts and Dutch has a strong hunt. In any other case Musk huss vs Dutch is superior.

ya but musk lb requires food wood and coin whereas pike lb just needs wood food.

musk huss is a stronger push anyway.

you could go lb pike to start then transition to lb huss, same with musk huss to lb huss.

the advantage of the pike is the resource distribution other than that i believe you're right, longbow/musk if you can distribute you vils to accomodate, is better (imo).

There is a thread on RTS that talks about _H20 going with musk longbow ... that might be an indication that it can be very effective ...

Since the spain FF is terrible on TAD and he is saying that it beats every thing he could only be referring to nilla.

Since you are not a nilla player I don't know if you know but ranged infantry do exceptionally well vs cav because they do not receive the negative multipliers. Also by design lbow do best against high HP targets because they allow the most shots to be fired before having to repeat the reload animation. Ofc you need to mix a few pike in at the start lbow are a unit that counter skirm and pike and just do too well to cav. So why not use them as the primary unit to counter the dutch civ?

Because it is much harder to support an eco going coin food and wood then simply wood/food. Pike are also better anti cav then muskets.

musk huss is much better against Dutch.

Vs otto go Longbow huss and cross ur fingers imo. Maybe longbow pike vs something like Japan and a hard rush.

Pike lb is the hardest combo to micro (i think), because of lb animation. You aren't getting the most out of lb ROF unless they are standing still and attacking the same target.
and no i think lb pike is good combo in age 2 against spain if u boom u can easily counter spain's opness i also throw some hussar in the mix if the game goes pass 10 mins if i hit 15 mins ill age up and fight spain with musk hus goon...

Remember Lbow do best vs High HP targets as long as they have a decent meat shield and especially if they can get into some trees or a choke pointed area. There is really too many variables to easily say which is best.

And comparing to musk huss, you should have a way bigger mass of lbow pike....Since you must be referring to nilla (talking about how OP spain FF is) cav are weaker, so jan abus would wreck musk huss. Why not make Lbow which counter both jan abus and huss when in mass.
