yeah kinda true. I have never really been a big fan of recs and your strat guide didnt exist when I tried to get better at this game :P

how high your rank is doesn't just depend on the amount of games you played. some factors that weigh in, from most important to least important:
1. RTS experience (preferably AOE1, AOE2 or AOM)
2. watching pro recs and copying builds (using your own builds when you're a beginner will just hold you back)
3. reading guides
4. talent/intelligence
5. the civ(s) you're playing
the higher in rank you get the more important talent will become because at a high level it's the small things that make a difference (everyone knows what build to use and how to micro properly).
i remember when i quit playing nr50 i was pr19, started playing supremacy with french and stayed at pr19 for a few days (all i did was mass musks in age2). then i played against a lt. colonel who spain FF'd and **** me, but the game was recorded and i copied his build. i got to major within a week. just to illustrate how important it is to copy strong builds when you're low ranked. it's all about getting as high a PR as possible so you can start playing against better players which will make you improve a lot faster.

Biggest problem I found is that for many civs there are no decent strats available on internet (for example for Dutch there is not really a single good guide, or maybe Bart wrote the Dutch semi ff a while ago but when I started playing it was impossible to find a good Dutch guide).

I always considered people to be decent starting at captain. Also imo Captain in TAD is still better (even though every single nilla player will deny that)

Assuming this comment is in regard to finding the decks, if you use the link I posted to his guide you will see a deck after every civ.

because tr is easy peasy

if u wanna be a good rts player and improve your skills, supremacy is the way to go. Playing tr very very slowly improves your rts play.

Your rank may not be as high, but by playing supremacy you are a better rts player as aoe3 has the only treaty type game in the business.

but yes play higher ranks and you will be better. like im serg, and i can keep up with 2nd lts, and the odd nub 1st lt like Jerom and noob basher like SS, nuff said.
