I really want to know how many people play death match. As far as I have gathered from reading forums, the vanilla has the only active DM community and that too is small. But small is a relative word so I really want to know how many.

I still play age of conquerors in voobly (formally igz). It has around 1000 to 1200 people playing in peak hours but only 100 or so of 'em play DM of which only 30 or so are actually playing.

I have been thinking about getting age of empires 3 for sometime but I keep reading about how dead DM is. But that is relative.

So can anyone tell me exactly how many people play death match in peak hours?

Is it worth it to get age of empires 3 just to play dm?

How long is a deathmatch supposed to last?

Newbie, when I play against 2 computer players in the post-imperial age the game seems to go on forever.

I'll kill hundreds of units, the computer players will kill hundreds of my units, and we all continuously create new units and mass spam each other.

I know the CTRL + Number grouping, and I know which units beat what units; but the game seems to go on forever regardless. (Over 2.5 hours and still a stalemate)

Am I doing something wrong?

(i.e.) The computer player has 40 or so light cavalry, so I'll group my anti cavalry units then attack them. The computer then spams artillery so I spam anti artillery units and counter attack.

The game goes on like this for hours with no winner.

I LOVE the indians and their 4 types of elephants not to mention the monks, but I can't really think of any ways to rush with them. Any suggestions?

well, on twc 3v3 deathmatch the person who has people who have one the most games have only 1 2, and i really wont one of the little shiny metals, so i was wondersing if i could get 2 other twc players to help me

put down ur best tips/advice.

- stick with one civ at a time so u can level it tonnes

- build a church ASAP and get mercantilism

- if u rnt goin for a total mad rush, get 70 vils on gold + food

- build a market and trade wood 4 gold

How to defeat the Russians with Dutch?

I have been using the dutch for a while now, but I still can't crack how to beat the Russians, they are truly difficult.

I rush with the dutch, but its too slow sometimes. Any help?

Here's my usual DM strategy for the Russians:

1. 1 settler makes a house, 1 settler makes a church, 3 settlers make a blockhouse (make 3 or more blockhouses). Also the explorer should make a T center

2. After church is built, get mercentalism and get 5 shipments in the following order:

Fencing School

Dueling School

Blockhouse hitpoints

Blockhouse cannon

Riding School

3. Build 2-3 artillery foundries and make culverins and falconets

4. Spam musks.

5. Make stables and make 20-30 cossacks

6. Make 40 or more settlers and task them on mills and plantations

7. Get 4 blockhouse card and build blockhouses around your colony

8. Divide your forces and send them to different parts of your colony

9. Wait for your opponents to attack.

10. After a few of your opponent's mass attacks, counterattack him and win!

I was wondering if someone could help me out with some of my questions. i just bought this game last night and i have alot to learn. im not completley clueless since i have played age of empires 2 in the past, but i am a little confused about the new application..."home city".

what are some of the key strageties i need to know about using my home cities to its full potential? In rated DM games is the home city set on default (15 cards only)? should i really worry about advancing my home city level if i plan on playing rated DM games?

why is it that the agecommunity dm forum is so full of ....

Evrytime i log on agecommunity and i see a post in the dm section i'm certain that i will have a good laugh. Not a single dmer post here (mostly on agesanc and clansites) and the rest are rookies who never play dm (and can't play it).

Im playing a 2v2 game, the other 2 use french and spanish. I can easily defeat the french with the german wagons, since he always is dead set on massing his upgraded cuirassier's. Im trying to help my friend pick a civ to kill the spanish in a no rush game but don't quite know what the best way would be. I know hes planning on using a good amount of rodeleros. Any ideas?

I had just read a post from not too long ago mentioning that DM is getting less and less players and that its almost impossible to get a rated 1v1 game anymore. is this true on all versions? i just got age of empires3:gold edition today. Is there more DM play in the original or the expansion packs? which version out of the original and the 2 expansion packs get the most amount of DM players?

Hi, I'm relatively new to the asian dynasties; and I thought I would see what DM is like in T.A.D.

So I played my first DM game today and beat my opponent (I'm ranked Captain in DM for vanilla.) However, as the last buildings in his town were falling, some spies came out of his church and went stealth mode. I placed units all over the map so that I could see every possible inch of it. Of course, I can't see his spies to kll them... so I can't win unless he resigns. Then he says he's going to bed, and that I will have to resign eventually. I had dinner and two hours later the game was still on... so i resigned.

I was missing something, I hope? otherwise ES needs to address this in a patch. Has the addition of spies completely ruined DM for the asian dynasties, or was there something else that I could have done?

Yea it's like the most cowardly thing any player can do, but with this 'strategy', a conscript can beat a field marshall in DM.
