that's not the case redgazzelle.

the patch was soleley made for supremacy, there are just few changes which lap over to treaty too, that's natural.

it's really a good piece of work with some strange changes but nontheless a solid thing.

plus it's the only fanpatch/mod which doesn't ruin your game(apart from the funpatch) and you can switch superfast between the offical and the fan patch.

Reading the patch notes it seems that the fan patch was made to appease people that have trouble beating Japan, India, Ottoman and Russia in a rush and France, Japan, Ports, and Russia in treaty.

Because the fan patch takes away all the unique aspects of certain civs. Aside from the unit names and pictures, they are all the exact same, talking in terms of attack, HP, etc.

If I wanted to play a game with no unique civs or units I would have stuck with AOE1 or 2 because although some units like Ashi may be OP trying to counter them just adds more depth and strategy and excitement to the game.

You find continuously losing to ashi spammers exciting?

RE did somewhat address Japan's imbalances in 1.02, but balance is far from perfect in their version.

And the FP didn't take away the unique aspects of certain civs. I would argue in fact that it made the civs more unique.

Probably because I am more interested in historical accuracy, at least with weapon effects and ship balance than I am with worrying about trying to make the game absolutely balanced.
