How do you add music to custom scenarios?

Do you use the music filename trigger?
    sound filename?
    play music?
    music mood?
    a combination of these effects?

There are so many music effects that I don't know which one to use. and no matter which ones I try, the music doesn't come on. Maybe AoE3 can't play .wav sounds, but I heard that both mp3 and WAV was compatible.

Someone please answer me quickly, I'm making a grand scenario!

Adding a sound/music to your scenario it depends of what or when. That's way we have so many sound effects in the editor.
PlayNextMusicTrack = plays the background music exactelly as in the game.
Sound Filename = you can set a song from the game's library. Do not double click on the sound file ... use the OPEN button to add it to the effect.
BlockAllAmbientSounds = stops all animal, wind, etc souds in the game.
BlockAllSounds = no ambient, or music sound in the game.
FadeMusic = never used this one, but i think you can set a short delay in the music (in seconds).
The list is much longer, but i don't have enough time now to explain all this effects...
I suggest you to try them all (as we all did) and see what happen. Good luck.

    Best regards,

    Hello,

Having a little bit of trouble getting the music to play in the scenario. I already know what each of this triggers mean. I'm working on three things with the sound. I want a cool song to play when I attack the opponents town center & when they attack mine. I also want a basic background song to play just by default.

I set the triggers for this, & when testing them, nothing plays. Maybe I'm setting the wrong triggers? Or not setting them right?

If thats the case, can someone explain how to set them (@ least for the three things I'm trying to do?)?

I can tell you that the files I'm adding are WAV & MP3 files. Have any ideas?

To answer your question, yes it is possible. It's included in this thread, as well as other's.

My trouble is that I already known where to go (triggers) to add the music, I just don't known how to. I can't even get the standard music to play, unless I select the "playnext" Or "MusicPlay" options?

Theres other options like "Music Filename," that let you select your own music, but I can't get them to play. I think its because I'm not adding the triggers right.

So, anyone know how to add music triggers to a custom scenario? So when my town center gets attack, Or I attack the opponents, theres some sort of drama to be captured!

If you don't have an answer don't use up the threads. It counts them as answered, & I won't get a true answer!

    SpiritSplit,

Again..You're most welcome..Happy to have been able to help..

To add to what we've been discussing in your other thread..I've done a little looking around and I came up with this..Maybe it will work for you..

If the file in question is 'we will rock you.mp3' then just go to: program files/age of empires3/sound/music/ interface. and look for the music file called Noddinagushpa(The AOE3 Theme Song). You would now drag 'Noddinagushpa' to the desktop and KEEP IT as a backup.
then you would drag 'we will rock you' to the sound/music/interface folder where Noddinagushpa was, and rename it to 'Noddinagushpa' so the game recognizes it.

If that is not what you're after..You could always load all the songs into your media player..That should enable you to find the particular song you're wanting to alter.

    Regards

I actually think you might like this better! I am able to add any of my own custom songs into the scenario.

I actually made a "blonde move" here. The files I was trying to use were both DRM (if that makes a difference) & WMA files, not Wav files.

Once I converted the files to MP3 (which also removes the DRM) it plays fine.

Pathetic really. So actually, no one has to rename there default file names! Everything work just fine... unless theres something wrong with that file of coarse.

Figured this would help you & hopefully otheres in the future. WOOT!

Now I just need to figure out how to add the other effects & loop this background music effect! Like you said, I just need some practice with it!

Here's my question - if you add your own sound file to a custom scenario, and you host this custom scenario online, does the sound file get saved in the scenario file so other people can hear it? Or will it only play if each player has the sound file, in the same file as the host?

To answer your question... yes. If you set it to hear it offlinr, players will also hear it online as well.

So you are saying it saves the music file inside the scenario file?

So the scenario file is going to be 4mb+, which will take a long time for most players to get into...
