Subject: Warchiefs install/uninstall problem (regular solution not valid for me)

Allright, the thing is that perhaps the so often copy/pasted solution would have worked because I get the same error as the rest when I try to install and the game forces me to go into uninstall instead.

But before I checked out the solution, I basicly went through my comp as much as I could, searched through everything I could and butchered through the registry that had anything to do with the "warchiefs".

That resulted in windows install cleanup not being able to find age of empires: the warchiefs even in the list, which basicly hinders me using it to remove warchiefs.

It really can't be much at all left on my comp that has anything to do with warchiefs, so I am asking if there is anyone who knows Exactly where all files from the warchiefs spread out during the installetion, so I can remove them by hand.

But hey, if you have a program especially made for removel of warchiefs files from harddrive, feel free to pass it on, :)

I'm getting this same problem with Warchiefs...

When I try to uninstall, I get an error that says "Unhandled Exception Error Number: 0x80040702 Description: Failed to load DLL: FirewallInstallHelper

    Setup will now terminate"

and then the uninstall process quits without uninstalling the game...

Silly of me to forgot to mention that; I get the "Error Number: 0x80040702 Description: Failed to load DLL: FirewallInstallHelper" error.

But as I mention, the regular copy/paste solution is not valid for me.

I'm also having the same problem, since I cleaned out my external hard drive. Same error as above. Could we get a solution soon please? [:^)]

If this is vista x64 try uninstalling and removing any leftover files and registry keys. The problem is the fact that the Microsoft Windows MSXML 4.0 is bugged on Windows X64. Microsoft has a patch though. Install this patch prior to installing any AOE games and the install will go smoothy. Do a search for KB941833.

This is a serious post. :P

It was not that good that you removed all registry keys with "warchiefs" in before using Windows Installer Clean Up.

No wonder that it don't displays it in the list any longer...

First TWC files are all placed in the Age3 folder. They are not spread out all over your machine.

Second there is a program that will remove them, its called the uninstaller. Though apparently you did something that broke it.

Third there are several TWC  registry entries placed for that the game uses as well as some that reference the game for the windows firewall. You can often use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to fix broken uninstalls. Though if things are so corrupted that the tool does not help you will need to contact MS support for assistance.

He already told that WIndows Installer CleanUp don't work because he deleted all registry keys with "warchiefs" in. Big Smile
