Ive tried and failed with most civs to stop ottoman rushes what are good strat and what civs to use?

otto is not really that big problems i can stop them with dutch which are weak in the biggining. if u play dutch after you start aging put around 10 vills to wood build 1 bank, then send a bank weagon. age with 400 wood -- get the 400 good build 1 baracks then 2 houses spam skims  second shipment 3 hussars in case he brings abus guns that would do it. magage ur hussars with care hit abus guns then run. then go fontress and ur economy will be so high that he would just resing.

In most cases ottoman has a very poor economy and cannot survive for long without alternative ways to gather resources. So either take the points that ottoman uses these alternative ways to get resources, like control the water or outposts. To be honest, you can skirmish his janis one by one and his economy will start to crumbling. Most jani either rush or ff, so be prepared for both. If you see him get grates for food or gold, raid him with musketeers or if he rushes just spam mil unit and skirmish his janis. You can easily overwhelm him because janis train time is very long.

The Ottoman rush can be quite formidable in some instances. Especially in certain maps. But I need to know exactly what type of rush you are dealing with in order to help you.

hard jani rush i can stop some b/c strelet mass strelets mass>janis but the eottoman fast age screws me up cuz i age kinda slow with russia

with good micro, even a small shipment of archers can stop them....

9 xbow shipment + 2 uhlans  with the Germans can really kill any such rush, esp. if you add 5 xbows of your own.

the Iriquois can use their aenna shipment, kanya horse shipment (both age 2) and make another 5 aenna for 12 and 4 units.  Then you can destroy the otto rush cuz kanya horse have an arty boost, so abus will be screwed.

likewise, dutch skirms can take any such jannies, and the 3 hussar shipment can take the abus.

i'm stuck with the french early gaming strategies myself, so I'll get back to you w/ french....

any civ w/ an 8 xbow shipment (like france, or portugal) can use those xbows and micro them to kill off the jannies (and really annoy the opponent) and then laugh at him.

generally, if you make a stable and a few hussars in addition to sending xbows, you'll be fine against any attacks.  It's a noob strategy, so treat these losers w/ contempt as you scornfully brush aside their jannies.  Plus, the rush destroys their econ if it fails (which it will if you do things like I've told you somewhat), so they'd be screwed for a while, while your econ should likely be fine.

I myself play ottomans , and yes for some nations its almost impossible to win ( for example british/ spanish / ports )   but there are some nations i just cant seem to beat ( like the dutch/french  )  .

i play multiple nationalities and have never had a porblem with ottos (however this is agaist a comp. not other player). The secret is simply build up defence as fast as possible, i suggest trying to get a fort but if thats not available, use many guard towers close together and jampack them with villigers when atk begins. when one looks like it will die, move the vills to another tower. Note: this will rederect the fire of their troops! they will shoot at the vills until safe, then sometimes goback to the bulding they where atking, sometimes atk the building u went to. Finnaly, watch out for great bombards in late game. Use large force to get through his defences and pick off as many villigers as u can.
