Subject: is deathmatch online really dead?
Hi guys i used to be a big deathmatch player and not bothering about sup, but in the past few months i swithced to supremacy due to more strategy involved and more upgradable stuff, and one of the main reasons that i converted is because usually when i search for a match there is about 5-6 deathmatch games while the rest is sup games, so im asking the question why is this happening? is it because more people are converting to supremacy, or because deathmatch is just not popular among aoe3 players.

I think that they migrated to both treaty and sup. games. Deathmatch is really a niche style of play because the maps are so small so it is difficult to actually develop a base, yet it is possible.

deathmatch takes a different kind of strategy. theres no rush, you start off with huge armies, and theres less economic strategy (well at the beggining anyway). Deathmatch online is almost dead, not enough people play it, and when it starts to die, people get frustrated at the lack of matches and convert to SUP

Actually, there are many deathmatch games, specially on vanilla, buy TAD and you will start thinking that at least vanilla got 8 DM games... compared to the games of DM in TAD, thats something incredible that will surely never happen in TAD...

eso is also focusing on sup and treaty, the treasures, consulates and trade route are pretty much usless in dm, and most of the cards are too

actually many people use trade routes in DM, to get powerfull shipments faster, they dont help a lot but they do help a bit, still your explorer cant really help in a fight, unless you use crackshot...

But ES its not focusing in treaty, just in supremacy, they care = as for DM as for treaty, its just a coincidence that treaty its more balanced than DM, but this happens because in DM you start in post industrial, and its more complex.

dm needs seperate maps designed for dm, and dm unique cards, to make it more fun and purposefull

Dm games mostly depend on the time of day. Usually about high noon, theres the most dm games as compared to 11 o clock at night theres only a few.

Most people play sup because dm is more often laggy than sup and dm is hard to pick up. Plus, with asian dynasties and the indians expanision pack, many people have moved from regular AOE3.
