    Subject: Installation problem

I just bought Aoe3 gold + TAD yesterday, but when I attempted to install the game, it wouldn't allow me to fully install it. I installed past the changeover to the 2nd Aoe3 disc alright, but the installation froze itself at the file named: C:\..\Age of Empires lll\Campaign\Age 3 Tutorial\age3tutorial1.age3scn, Which I believe is the file that I change over to disc 3, because that's when I changed over on my other computer. However I get no message telling me to change disc, I have tried changing the disc without any message but nothing happens.

I've also looked it this problem up elsewhere but have been non-successful in finding a solution. Perhaps this could be a fatal error on my part, or be easily fixable. But just to be safe I thought I'd ask here =)

     Thanks in advanced.

If you haven't tried it yet, try going into "My Computer" and find the disk. Try right clicking it and hitting the Install/Run button. It may start that CD going.

Thanks for helping Dragon, but it still doesn't work =(

Now, I'm freezing at a different screen as well. It loads one bar towards Validating Install then freezes.

Then I Ctrl + Alt + delete that.

And when I try to install again I get this

Which is fixable by restarting the computer. However my computer takes 10 minutes + to start up each time, so it takes alot of time up.

    =(

While validating the installation it might be trying to get into registry files your firewall or something is blocking, though I seriously doubt it, but turning it off could be worth a shot.

I would also suggest running the installation as an administrator if you haven't done that already.

I can't really think of much else that can be done, if you can get a mod in here they might be able to help you out though.

Yeah, I always turn my firewall off when installing programs such as games, so that can't be the problem, and I'm always logged in as the Administrator.

Thanks for your helping though, I just hope a mod comes in here soon I'm awaitng an official  answer to this problem =)

I wouldn't count on Paragon, he has like deserted the Forums (hopefully to make the next AOE). Does your Router/Modem or any other computer c*** allow it through? You may also have a bad disc or not meet minimum requirements (written on the back of the cover).

Yeah my other computer allows it, I would play on it but it's the family computer, so someone is almost always on it =/

I know the computer meets the requirments, because I've had Aoe3 on it before (had to reformat it).

Today, however, I found a trojan on my computer through Kaspersky, so hopefully I can get rid of it. Perhaps this was what was stopping me from installing? (it's probably doubtful, I ain't no computer person so it doesn't hurt to ask :P)

lol, well that is gone now... I think it was just a scare from a game I downloaded, you know how touchy those anti-virus programs are!

But I got the game installed now, had to do it through custom install, something was blocking it through the registrary, not sure what though. But tis all good now =) thanks to everyone that helped...

Who needs Paragon? He has 10,054 posts and counting (it will probably be the same next month).
