Here are my ideas about bridges? There are 2 options:

     1) Having "bridge-building boats". After training these or sending them from the home city, you could use their special abiltity to build a wooden bridge (probably a drawbridge to allow boats through). Anyone could use these.

    2) Having built in stone bridges with a trading post at either end. In order to use this bridge, that is high enough to allow boats beneath it, both trading posts must be occupied by the same team.

    Whadda ya think?

    Jimbob.

you see we can't really have bridges unless we have roads, wcich we don't. Also they can't add it to AoE, they have to include it in a new game. I like the idea though, would be cool to have a bridge coming into your base and the rest surrounded by walls. When the enemy are halfway across delete the bridge. You could also use it to control sections of water on the map, eg block off your base by building a bridge and putting artillery on top of it to stop the enemy getting past.

Ah, the memories of AOK "bridges". I don't know why ES didn't put in "bridges" in AOE 3, they're just a natural point (what's the word for that?) that should be walled off and fought over for an invasion onto the other player's land. It was quite fun in AOK to see your enemy put a gazillion walls and towers around the point, and then you just sneak a ship to the other side, and gg.

I think that bridges would allow players to make use of the strategies that are usually involved in crossing and protecting rivers, since throughout history bridges and rivers had tactical uses in warfare.  And there's also the idea of making amphibious walls, I saw them in AOE 2 and they were awesome, like walls but in the water

Thanks for you comments guys! Sorry, I should have clarified that I meant bridges going over rivers or water rather than wall etc- although thats a good idea too!
