Re: Using Japanese Rice Paddies by a Euro Civ
Steel Reign:I played a 3v3 team game the other night and I was teamed with a Japanese and a Port and part way through the game the port player asked the japanese to build some paddies around his toown center, when they were buit the port player put his villies on them. Ive never seen that before, it seems beneficial to me except he had to ask jap player to switch them from food to gold from time to time, saves wood on having to build mills and palntations. Is this a good strat or is the gathering rate much lower on a paddy.
the gathering rate is slower, but they have more upgrades to make up for it, so if the Jap was getting these upgrades anyways, the port saved resources, seems like a good idea to me
Do you use the word "pretentious" in a pretentious manner? The belief of "pretentious" being pretentious might itself be pretentious, but that would than further go to prove that the word "pretentious" is pretentious.

Imdamasta:I dont think the upgrades that the japanese ally upgrades will effect your rice paddy cause you did not upgrade it.
but your using his rice paddy, so the upgrades should count

Re: Using Japanese Rice Paddies by a Euro Civ
i have done this several times and it really works. u have to be careful with which civ u do it, as the ports church upgrade isnt working for rice paddies or germans setller waggons collect slower on rice paddies. i think native civs dont collect bettr by this but im not sure. the way u do it, u have to build one plantation and one mill, to do the upgrades for faster collecting, as the upgrades dont upgrade the buildings, but the villies and they are still urs. major advatages: collecting is a bit faster for euro civs paddies cost less than plantations. paddies take less space then mills or plantations the paddies can be switched from food to gold or other way easily, but u have to ask ur mate for this. id only do this when ur playing with people u know good not that some idiot gives up and u cant switch the paddies any more, or he just is too busy to switch it and doesnt want to do it. i only do it with mates i'm in teamspeak with, that way it has always worked fine, but as i mostly play germans i havent done this that often, as it has no use for my sws.

This could be a good idea if both you and your ally had planned it ahead of time. If you didn't you could just be wasting a lot of time by telling him what to do. If you had team speak, or had a friend and you have decided to do this ahead of time, it would be good to do.
