well to me dutch seems to be one of the most underestimated and used less civilization when it comes to treaty.

but myself i love using dutch, ok i know they dont have a great eco but you can still have a pretty decent economy by microing your eco to hit imperial as soon as possible.

 i do hit imperial by 18 minutes, and get all my upgrades done by 19.5 mins(rarely 20)

 ok now you have a decent economy, now comes the important task - that is to maintain a decent economy by inflicting more damage to the opponent by superiror battlefield tactics.

now this what i do

1)by using my superior numbers(150 military pop) to overwhelm my opponent.

2)by reserving 50 pop for your artillery units like cannons, mortars and a couple of culverines.

3) ruyter - these guys are awesome and they only take 1 pop, so you can mass a huge army to protect ur artillery.

4) dont spam halbs against any type of infantry, keep few near your artillery(you wont need them much, ruyters do an excellent job)

5)i only use halbs against goons, even though ruyters own goons a few halbs make your job easier.

few more notes - i love using dutch against japan, they do an excellent job against japan.

i find dutch skirmishers pretty handy too.

 well i am still a master sergeant(i think m a bit underrated cause i haven't really played many treaty games)

Yes the dutch is a very good civilization. I play Dutch ever since i started playng a game. The banks are very good and with dutch i hit Imperial for 16 minutes.However their Troops ar very poor(skirmishers)

 Because they only get 54 villis, and 10 banks does not make up the difference. Fishing helps, but still that is an extra hassle and odds are other players will be fighting over whales and fish as well. Plus, with those 54 villis you are supporting 150 military population.

imo, it's not even worth it to delay your industrial until you max out 50 villes, simply because you get a huge eco boost when you reach industrial, and the sooner, the better.  The dutch eco is pretty bad, but their military can really get the job done.  Their skirms are pretty strong, ruyters are good, but the main focus of their army is cannons.  imo, they'd be a more balanced civ if they had engineering school.  They're underrated, but not really all that strong anyways.

If you start this by 20 minutes, you should have 66k coin gathered by banks by end of treaty.

That doesnt suddenly make dutch OP. France gets 150k+ with fur trade.

 

Dutch Skirs are better than france Skirs due to the 999999 cards they have and in good ol Nilla 100 Halbs surrounding 10 Falconets > Noob opponents (which s really everynoe on nilla that plays treaty)

Remember that there are also other treaty times besides 40. Dutch really shine at NR 20 and NR 30. And as a fishing civ the Dutch absolutely own as you can have a 150-settler econ plus a full-sized army.

un upgraded bank gathers at 2.75 a second, and the only upgrade it gets is the tulip industries card, which gives it 15%, and leaves it at about 3.15 coind a second.

i have been playing the game since the year it came out and i have never even been the dutch. and they are the only civ that i have never tried. on another note, i've only been the germans once before. other than that i've been all the other civs at least 3 times or more

I just confirmed this in a test. I've seen that 4.5 figure many times but am not sure where people got it.

u know that card in the capital - excessive taxation. it affects banks too
