hey people. just making another thread to talk about the whole unfair mass banning and kerkumus thing. yeah so just post whatever. i figure its not spamming since this is the first post ive made on the subject. also I firmly beleive censorship is wrong.

also aloysius i dont beleive the issue is resolved. I'm still not seeing proof (ive seen a little in the way of he didnt do it and none that he did).

I dont think youre a bad mod and i wont accuse you of being one since I know i couldnt do any better. i realize these decisions are hard, but please try to look at the spirit of the law. the permaban thing was meant for people who steal accounts, correct? since we have yet to see evidence that kerk actually stole an account (or even a name for that matter) i cant see how you justify the ban. is this really going to stop the real mass account theives?

also could you please respond to kerk's question about if he can make a new account if he buys another cd and changed his IP?

and since this is a sensitive topic i would like to end by saying: "please dont lock this post or ban me. I think this is a valid topic that needs to be worked out."

Yeah, it's already been deleted, it's getting really stupid. They won't even acknowledge it, they just keep deleting.

Nothing needs to be worked out and any more threads on the subject will just degrade into flame wars as the last half-dozen have. I suggest that everyone just give it a rest. Also, be glad that you could even discuss the issue at all as on Age Sanctuary or Heaven Games they would have locked the topic immediately as they don't allow discussions of cheating at all. If you want to talk about it maybe they will let you over at the new TRT site.

 

i dont want this to become a flame war. i want this to be an honest civil conversation about the main issue. not even necassarily the ban of kirk speciafically, just the problems with the system and how it can be improved. for example looking a little farther in to a situation before making an executive decision and banning someone.

Plenty needs to be worked out, this is not even close to finished.

I see this whole situation like this:

1. Robot Entertainment and Aloysius will not discuss this openly, until they will I will continue to resurrect this thread.

2. RE and Aloysius do not want open discussion because they fear backlash as a result of this and continue to censor any efforts to discuss this in an open, civil manner.

3. RE and Aloysius lob accusations at Kerkumus, labeling him as an "account thief", despite their being evidence of a setup. They refuse to issue an apology and retract their accusations, in addition to also not producing evidence that proves he is infact an account thief.

4. RE and Aloysius refuse to investigate any incidents beyond simply IP checks, this policy is careless and stupid, it will only lead to excessive false-positive bannings.

5. RE and Aloysius prefer to label Kerk an "account thief" so that they can avoid banning people of "account sharing", which would completely  destroy the game, yet banning a large number of people simply because Kerk accessed their accounts is seemingly acceptable.

6. Due to the above, I'm almost inclined to think they do it in order to make said victims of blanket-banning buy the game again and that their  refusal to discuss this is because of the fact they know their policy is wrong.

some of the above might be a bit to harsh, but the idea is a good one. if i were you I would not continue to remake this thread. it's easy to say "oh well one guy who's friend got banned was upset and spammed the forums", but if more people continue to speak up about this it will have a larger impact. ergo my making this thread, which has, thus far, lasted longer than the other remakes.

I'm hoping I won't have too but I'm not letting Robot sweep this under the rug and avoid responsibility for their actions.

well I do see your point of view especially considering 7 out of the 19 posts on the front page of the treaty forums are locked. and that doesnt include the ones that were deleted.

Most gaming communities do not allow public topics related to bans or other authority exercised by the moderators, for obvious reasons. If you have a problem, take it up in a calm and professional manner with those you have an issue with. Do not spam the forums or become a pest, as doing so does not help you case at all.

and Frankie, I am trying to take this up in a civilized manor, but at the same time I feel this is a public topic because it affects so many people. even if the overall public opinion if different than my own i still think we need to learn what it is, and RE can learn from this, as can we the players. (see my poll in sig)
