    Subject: British vs French
The other day i (british) was playing a 2v2, and it was two privates and two higher leveled players.  The two privates left at the same time for some reason, but their team already started with pressure at our base.  Noticing from the start our team was weaker, i walled in my base separate from the team wall (it was orinoco so it stretches fine around both).  But anyways, it was me vs a french civ, but he started on the attack.  I spammed dragoons on his cavs (the ones that have a beast seige, forget the name), only thinking "anticavanticavanticav".  Anyway, my horses were overpowered, they still held a great fight (about 10-15 mins when i just gave up), but i wasnt gaining any ground.  In conclusion, i was wondering if there is any unit of the british that can counter these horses when they are spammed effectively.  I feel like if i had a better unit that i could have pushed him back, because i had the power of numbers and was producing them quicker.  Any ideas?

musk meatshield + goons will absolutely decimate gendarmes.  Also, british eco should be far superior anyways...

Yeah but any GOOD gendarme player would combine musks, halberdiers, skirms, and cannons........French have great military, and their eco is also rather good

Actually, halbs are a pretty crappy unit.  And we're talking about a cuir spammer here, not a good french player.  France wins against all other civs, so talking about countering france would be pointless...

goons get pwned by halbs if you're fighting upfront

plus i'd rather use an infantry unit any day to counter cavalry, like dopps, ashigarus, sepoys.

i only use WW or goons when i hav some infantry to keep the cavalry from touching it.
