As the person who created the "Patch Launcher" program that is used to change between the ES 1.01a patch and the fan patch I'd like to know what is keeping you from using the fan patch?

 First some facts:

1. The patch launcher program is not a virus and does not contain any dangerous code. Run a virus scanner on the program if you don't believe it.
2. The patch launcher program allows you to easily change patches so if you are unable to find a game using the fan patch you can always exit AOE, change back to the ES 1.01a patch and re-start TAD.
3. The fan patch does nothing but modify data files used by the game. This is how all mods are made. No executable files are modified.

When the next fan patch is released it will contain some really cool new features other than just balance changes. For example we are fixing problems with many of the maps. We have added new map sets like Random Land Maps, Treaty Maps and Regicide Maps. A whole new set of regicide maps will be added as wells as a few other brand new maps as well.

So I encourage you to at least give it a try as it will provide you with a brand new AOE3 experience!

im not gonna apply the patch till i get to 1st leunt in treaty (im master sarg)

and master sarg in rush (im corp)

Most people actually do have the patch but dont activate it since its harder to find a game, me being one of them.

If all who have the patch would also use it most games would be played with the fan patch.

But this wont happen, I mean how to make the majority of people activate it at the same time?

Fair enough. There are some issues with Vista and the fan patch. But read and post here and you can probably get your problem fixed. A slight change to the patch launcher will also be included when the 1.1 patch is released which will hopefully lessen the problems on Vista.

Yes, this is probably the biggest issue. We can't force people to use the patch. All we can do is encourage people to spread the word. Hopefully the map changes in 1.1 will encourage more people to try the patch if balance changes alone are not enough of a reason.

I dont have the patch, but the main reason is : it seems to be only higher rated players (PR 25+) have the patch.  I am PR 18 and if i got the patch I would just get annihiliated by higher ranked players.  So in conclusion when i reach captain i will most likely get it.  But until then, Nah thanks.  But thanks for designing it and i think you guys made some necessary changes.

BTW i have tried to downlaod and i am having some issues.  I have vista and i encountered the problem viper said i would have and i run my comp as admin all the time and it doesnt help.

It says to me "access to this path is Denied"

Can you help me with that?

I havn't ever had a program not run on Vista after 2 years with the OS. Even AOE2 runs just fine.
