I rarely agree with you, but that's right imo. The reason why his team won is not the quality of his spain but the problems the opposing team had with splitting their armies, also for civ reasons. Pept and Tomo played very well ofc.

watching these old games is a trip... yah they look a little weird but you have to remember the context... a lot of what is considered common knowledge now, wasnt really understood back then... it was still being "pioneered" in a sense... like the way we "boomed" then and the way people "boom" now, or even the way people fought is completely different.... in fact, back then people who call themselves "pro's" now, used to get routinely kicked out of rooms... people like pi, kerk... they all used to be like the dudes nobody wanted to team with... it really wasnt until the treaty pioneers stopped playing that a lot of people had the chance to rise to the top... a lot of those dudes in the recordings really set trends.. from what i remember irish/bedang... kinda took sioux past the dog box and into the teepee fighting style sanderson... so much of the way people boom came from him... esp. the otto 3 villie/700 gold boom norman... set off the wall spam style kire.... nobody really played spain back in TWC days until he started exploiting the priest cards uofa and iroq. and what not... although i think he jacked it from GS
