Wvery time I start playing a particular civilization I notice another civilization that I have alot of trouble against. For instance Ottoman vs the Dutch. But this time I ha ve run into trouble vs the Aztec.

My game play type is superamacy and it 1 vs 1. Basically I find it near impossible to kill mass coyote runners unless I have equal numbers of muskets, unit upgrades and have managed to kill a few of hteir priest.

The aztec unit combo of coyote runners and maces feels kinda unstopable for me because

1. Coyote do fairly well vs the russian cossack
2. Coyote do extremly well vs villager are fast and have stealth
3. Coyote  do extremly well vs muskets and the Russian player has to hit and run micro inorder to win vs equal numbers of Coyotes.
   
4. When maces are mixed with coyotes they will kill equal numbers of their counters.
   

How do you handle the Aztec as a Russian player?

Musks counter Coyote and Li. They also have a HR so even russian musks should be able to beat them. the best combo would be musks and cossak but watch out for puma spearmen. Or you ff make art and halb/strelets or musk/strelets. but make sure the aztec cant reach age 3 or you will have eagle/jagua/arrow knights to deal with, and they are such a hassle.

As far as I can tell, verses the Aztecs the only thing the Russians have going for them is how fast they can replace their infantry. (They get it instantly with Fencing School, TEAM DUeling School, and STanding Army). MAximize your eco and soldiers through every upgrade card and improvement available. Advanced Arsenal is invaluable. Also, recon must be priority. Use Hot Air Balloons. Take out their military buildings ASAP. Good luck.

lol only use musk and crosk no by the end of game u have just wasted your ecoand u have nothing to build any more russians is a good civ with little musk sletes and some cannons  but u will need some extra wood to use lots of sletes they are skirms and dont waste your eco like musk do

Use the church card. You can buy dragoons for wood then. The know how to deal with them ^^

If there being stupid and spaming be the smart one and wipe out their coyotes with a few cannons and a small force of stirlets and that will do it. And then send a leading force to their city with a couple of cossacks and oprichniks to kill their vills. The Russian are an OP civ and could totally destroy the Aztecs a freakn tier three civ.

As the Russians never ever use the musketeers they suck and rarely use the stirlets because their only good against counter infantry. The Russians have one of the best military because they have cossacks (only taking up one population). You cant even get crossbowman for the Russians so i don't know what your talking about. And oprickniks are just a different form of human cannon (good siege almost like a samurai with onin war). The aztecs only have one military which is infantry but the  thing is they are good against cavalry and artillery if they even get to them. But what you need to do is wipe out their economy and then send in some counter infantry to take out their single military unit army. There only two good units are the jaguar prowl knights and the skull knights. If the reach any type of army (use ranged  counter infantry) then they will totally destroy it. Its wise to use ranged counter infantry and artillery against the Aztecs because they only have hand infantry and a ridiculously weak ranged infantry.

3) stop using some list of good civs to act like you know stuff and stop acting as if that list is the law

4) Russian musks and strelets dont suck. They are just ok in sup (strelets are pretty insane actually) and in TR they are instant thus pretty nice (although strelets are very pop inefficiënt so not used too much)

5) Did you know that its not about infantry or cav, but about what they counter.

On a serious note Im just preventing misinformation to be spreaded in these threads and the tier thing is annoying because you shouldnt think in tiers in my eyes. 

Hi Jerom.

Milky made the list as a general reference for people to understand which civs have inherent advantages in TR games. Specific matchups give different civs the advantage, even if they're the "worse" civ. You will learn a lot faster if you stop trying to use it to answer everything and listen to the specific arguments experienced players make about civs.

 

And you should listen to what Jerom said, because all of his points are correct, though perhaps put a bit bluntly :P
