I has 500 rated games but no pro or anything.

Was master sergeant in 100 games. Gs prolly did it in about 3 games 

I was a sergeant for around two years before I got good (Did not know it was a good idea to be constantly training settlers).

If you are at corporal with 724 games you are simply missing some of the fundamentals of playing well. 

I suggest finding someone with a good rank preferably captain or above and see if they can give you some advice or pointers, a few builds, a look over your deck...Maybe play a game with you to see what you are doing wrong. 

And ofc you can always ask your questions to the community here!

 Also if you play 3v3 random your going to improve way slower then if you played 1v1.  This game (as are most strategy games) are balanced for 1v1 before team therefor you can get away with many more noob moves in team games then you could in a 1v1.

If you want to improve faster my number 1 suggestion is to switch from playing team to 1v1 if you are not already.  Hit record game when you host and watch it over.  See what you are doing wrong and see what your opponent is doing and when.  

Also try to stick to 1 civ.  Once you get good with it the others will come easier too.

I do always try to do 11. the problem is finding people around my level to play it with. the corporals and sergeants  that come in usually have crazy stats like "played 40 games won 29" and other ridiculous stuff. hard to find gamers.

Join 1v1's against sergeants and MS's.  You'll lose quite a few, but I guarantee that you'll learn much quicker that way and will begin to dominate your fellow corporals.

Play vs anyone above your rank only way to learn fast(if you vs a captain record game and play it). Also, look at the decks of the "pro's" that you encounter it gives you a better chance of winning/improving.

How long did it take you "pros" to reach the higher ranks? Has the game gotten much tougher since it came out or something?

Clearly, I've been playing too many games against noobs, or u just suck. The way to get higher rank is play someone whose level is much higher than urs, if u win, u gain a lot of levels.

I got to a sgt when I only played 20 games.

what civ are you playing?

are you always on a land map like great plains and are you getting a rax/stables up the instant that you hit age 2?

have you read 'the guide' by gs as just a starting point?  just as a road map to get down a basic build order?

I'd dare to say that the problem is that the strategy u are using sucks. Googling around the internet on ageheaven and other sites to find new strategies to use is what almost all people do in the beginning. Once you have found one and you can do it correctly (not being delayed by more than 1 minute while doing it) u should get sergeant - 2nd lieutenant.

Just playing tons and tons of games won't help u make up a new strategy. You shouldn't even try that because everything has already been found out, you just have got to find a way to find the strategies on the internet (best source imo is asking someone thats decent (like me or sth)).

Once you have a good strategy then you should look further while using that and then you can actually improve. Best strategy from there on is to somehow get a good player to play a lot of games with you and have him help you, filter out the mistakes and maybe teach you a better variation on the strategy you are using.
