Subject: Will Longbow/Native Pikemen still work?

I saw a post earlier about Longbow/Pikemen combo. The problem was they don't have enough HP compare to musketeer/hussars. But how about I switched to native pikemen?

Sure, they are expensive and you can't have as many of them as a normal one. But they have more HP so that fixes one of the issue. And Cheap Native card too.

And when I said natives, I mean native HI that uses for counter cavalray and good siege attack. That means Maya, Nootka, Inca and Sohei that I can think of. Yes I agree the British are map dependent.

So would the tactic works a bit better if I switch to tougher and more upgradable native pikemen, and hopefully can still finish the match by Age III, just like the original one. Even throw in some grenadiers to speed things up?

its a lot to invest 250 wood early in the game to train anti cav, some natives do have good perks though like the cree for example you can train cbd. natives also usually have slightly more hp/attack. but generally speaking i don't think going natives as british is a good idea.

if your playing vanilla longbow will do better against musk/huss. the main problem you will have is against raids. longbow are much better at defense than attacking, its great to set them up around trees so that cavalry has pathing issues.

going longbow i think is a good idea if you can set your eco up in small area that is easy to defend. the best example would probably be on a map like saguenway where you can fish boom and have villagers on wood next to docks. all one small location easy to defend. also warships could be used to shoot down cavalry.

Press back a few pages earlier and you'll find the original. It said what would it be if he switch from the sam old musketeer/longbow combo and use pikemen instead. Saying surprise can play a big role.

So apart from building-eating siege and much better anti-cavalry, what else is there not to use musketeers instead? Would those spare gold means more mercenaries?
