Hi everyone,

I'm sure everyone is sick of these questions but in my defense I have been reading for weeks, practicing for weeks, studying strategies, counters, looking up tips and tricks, but it doesn't seem to be helping me and I just cannot beat my friend.

He refuses to use any civ other than british and claims he's better than me (which may be true), but it's hard to say you're good at the game when you refuse to play as anything but one civ. 

Here's what he does.

Ages w/ 13 Vill + outpost and 200 gold 

Saves all cards til colonial.

Then he uses cards for  5 Lbows and 6 Musks while building barracks and creating 5-10 more of each before rushing. 

Then spams muskets and overwhelms.

I've tried raiding his villagers with horse riders (I've tried with french and russia) and rushing first (mostly russia, which actually worked twice) but I consistently lose.

I know I should raid his gold villies as his musks depends on them. Maybe I should use britain as well and turtle with outposts and longbows?  

Longbows behind a wall + Outposts  >>> musks+longbows attacking the wall???? 

Any advice on how to beat this british rush with any civ would be greatly appreciated. And again I have tried looking all over the internet and reading but I just have hit a road block.

u shouldnt try to outrush him turtleling is good idea BUT if u are french never stop raiding u could also be dutch and do an ff or semiff get cannon spam going + skirms+cav. some mercenaries would help vs the longbow

lol ... have you tried using otto vs him ?!?! you go jan abus ... for an exact replay of the build order with 2 trade posts watch gs's recording on his youtube website. If you simply played 1v1 otto with this build order over and over and kept your jans near your abus (assuming you don't know what units counter anything and how to micro) you should make it to 1Lt (and easily overpower a british opponent in rush) ... no contest.  If you want to make Captain ensure you hit and run with abus, lead with them for good line of site and always use jans vs cav if/when they try to melee your abus

 No, but their still the best IMO in vanilla. Villagers and gathering rates + they can take hits like no other civ's vills

Actually German Settler Wagons are way more OP they can take a lot more hits, just can't attack as good as a french settler. Unless you are going to do a French villie rush attack, using the market upgrades and card, that is where France is clearly more OP then any other civ.

Yeah, french is overall better in treaty, there may be better civs in sup

Simply play with india

record the game and watch his view and than watch again with your view. perhaps you will find yourself the right way to win vs him ;-)

several possiblities to beat your friend. or post the game on rtssanctuary and link it to here. sure someone can help you than.

Jerom is correct. By skipping any eco shipments, he's going to be behind on his economy if you play it right. By using tc garrison fire and minutemen, you can beat his first wave, and you'll outnumber him after that. So, send an eco shipment (vills if you're playing a civ that has them) then proceed to build skirmisher/archer units (anti-infantry). Jerom can give you details but that's the basic idea against this type of strat.

One other note, when raiding, don't go for his coin vills. Musk don't cost much coin, and mines are usually close to his tc. Just kill whichever vills are most vulnerable, and run as soon as musks show up.
