I’d like to know how (or if) you guys use halbs (exception is dutch, ofc). Are there good uses for them?

Most civs that get them also get musks, and halbs seem to lose to musk in comparison. Musks have both ranged and melee modes, are cheaper and move faster. Also musk usually gets cards and AA. Halbs are only better at siege, but for that you get canon/grens …

One thing I think they do is slow down cavalry better than musk when protecting canon or a path, but I don’t know for sure. Also not sure how carded musks in melee do compared to halbs.

yes, dont use alabardiers in TR.    Musks are much better and powerfull.

And dutch, when u start make Alabrds, your eco drain fast.  Ruyters + micro are better

There are some cases where halbs are useful for dutch. Thats vs very strong cav like British hussars. Other than that try not to use them. I personally hate using them but sometimes you have to in such a MU.

And yes they aren't useful with any other civ. Not even Russia.

As Dutch you can LOLTROLL by getting halbs up to some ridiculous movespeed (don't remember the exact number), and then just running like a complete tool .

 @all people saying halbs are good as Russia, look at the stats, halbs are only marginally better in melee vs cav, but cost more. Just replace the pop you're spending on halbs with musks and you'll be better off. 

Muskets are way more versatile and better rounded. You spam halbs, spend a *** tonne more, counter cav, then they die to skirms/musks. Extremely uncosteffective in tr all together. I've made more jokes about halbs in tr than I can remember. I can't stress enough about how useless they're. Even as dutch. However I made one exception where they're useful. If a Brit or other heavy cav civ is making an insane amount of hussars, are halbs ever useful, but even then they die instantly to any ranged unit behind the cav, which is uncosteffective a lot of the time and a civ like dutch cant afford that.

i swear if dutch could sustain it, it would be better than musk huss. 

i use them , if i run and have to destroy lotz of buildings , patard just too expensive to use on lotz of buildings, habs dont suck too badly when countered like paterd,   also i find them usefull if i have to push through small passage , they are expensive so i dont use them much for this purpose, i use only when i have better eco than opponent , also i use them to stop fast a push/runing from small opening  , through not very cost effective

anyways , andes native are better , if u have them

ya mortor are the most cost effective way to destroy buildings ,

like indian players make a castle and spam fail elephant , i am saying sneeking 1-2villi(or explorer and make tc) , than make 2-3 barracks and spam habs , i found them as effective as fail(or dopple by german) , keep 5-10 husser for  pushing ski away

 mortors in enemy base  can be countered easily by cav , , , and petard are not too cost effective and can be countered hard by cav

 not a very gud tactic (not too cost effective too) but work in some cases destroying most of the enemy fb and pushing him back
