ok what civ is the best counter to ports off andes? theyre played so often and usually when i see someone playing a civ i will adjust accordingly and pick a civ that counters it. but ports i just usually dont know what to pick. most often i pick germans and sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. also i can never beat spain without being an insane hopper. so what civ do u think beats them the hardest?

Ports are a really well rounded civ off Andes. Spain can wreck them off andes, so can British. But its not easy. Germans should get hard countered by Port, so I wouldn't suggest playing this.

I think British has the best chance of beating Spain in a heads up battle. That could just be me tho, since I used to play a lot of British, and always heads up.

team. and stef im not that good with brits :P any other civs that u think beat spain heads up? 

no one beats spain heads up in team fight.

you beat spain in team fights by doubling them or just surviving long enough for your teammates to win

A good German player will destroy a port in a eco war, and this isn't only because of Germany's eco. I've seen this happen multiple times. Very few times have I seen a even 1v1 PR fight Port V German with the German player loosing. When it comes to Spain (you) in the Andes cliffs against a port (opponent) the Spanish player should be able to dominate. Spain should only fight in the cliffs because it's almost always heads up fighting, and if you push hard enough as Spain you won't even have to worry about those long range mortars.

Spain generally wrecks port in the cliffs unless 2v1 against Spain. Pretty much same circumstances as Storm said.

The thread starter asked for matchups off andes, and there Germans are not that good because of slow train times.

Imo India, Brits, Ottos and Iro are pretty good against ports and spain...suspected the OP civs would do a nice job too.. i guess if ur micro is good or better then the one whos playin port/spain u could pwn them with every civ^^

how the heck could india even come close to beating ports? ports have strong culvs, fast art, and organs...i doubt that siege eles could come close to handling that

I think the best counter for Port is Brits. As for Spain id say Germans depending on the map. It really depends on how you play them. It also depends on what map and how much is the tr time. From what i saw on your account you play Deccan most of the time so Port would probably be a good idea vs Spain and Brit would be good vs Port. If you lose all the time vs these civs then youre doing something wrong.

But remember this is just advice, you can do whatever the .... you wanna do!

i've beaten enough ports with india.. (maybe cuz every second master sergeant is playin ports..)

at least i've beaten u twice with india ^^ and ur still higher rank then me.. but its just my opinion that india does it well against ports..(if therey played the right way...) ;o

The best way I can think of beating Port off andes is killing some vills.  Brit can easily support 110-115 pop on deccan; 10 pop doesn't seem like a lot but it helps a great deal. german can probably kill around 10-20 more vills too ( compared to no when playing w/ no nats on andes).  German probably has a better chance than Brit I think.

Wall-in the port player and make many culverins/ulhans/skirmishers. Chase the Spain player's missionaries with cav(they have ranged resist and are fast, ulhans with the speed card best bet here) and mortar/petard bomb the forward church and raid forward villagers and you can break through. Also, if culverin attack the missionaries(high range) they scatter all around and while the opponent is distracted, push hard on another side try to split spain's army.
