XP numbers
You know those XP numbers that appear when you build or destroy a building or kill a unit? I used to use those as an indicator of how well my battle was going (for instance, if I saw a bunch of 12's I knew my Organ Guns were doing their job on infantry).
Recently, I loaded the Napoleonic Era mod to check it out (I rather like it and would play it online if there were enough people interested in it). To get back into online gaming, I had to uninstall the game then reinstall the standard version.
Ever since I re-installed I no longer have those XP numbers. Is there a toggle I missed somewhere? LOL, I spent a goodly portion of a laggy recent game in Options trying vainly to turn it back on.

It's something random under graphics options if I remember correctly. I think it was one of the toggle options, but I'm not sure. I don't know why those are tied to graphics quality, but they are.

Hey, metis if you like the mod you can make a new folder for it and copy aoe3 files there and install to the new directory its just so that you can either backup or swap between game/mods
Metis:It doesn't hurt that the girl villagers sound like they are flirting with you when you click on them too.
Milky__: Anybody can find a BO, copy it, and they CAN pretty much win any game

Re: XP numbers
I have the same issue, Metis. A toggle doesn't seem to exist.
Have you tried a complete clean reinstall? I can't recall whether I've tried that or not, I've gone so long without the sacred numbers.
Though I've never connected the issue with modding. I always thought it had something to do with scenario designing, as in games of Gatling Wars was where I first discovered the issue.
I feel like I posted about this a long time ago, too. Not sure, though.

I seem to have lost the XP numbers after a clean re-install, which led me to believe that I didn't have a button in Options toggled right, but try as I might I can't seem to find the one that affects this.

It looks like once they're off in an individual game, they don't come back. I started a game and had them, but after turning down the graphics some, they were gone, and didn't come back after going back to max settings

I play with my graphics down low all the time and still have the numbers, tried to find a toggle last night by switching every one off one at a a time but they never went away. Strange
