Time to reflect
While we cant get on and play, I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed playing this game and figure my costs to play over the last 5 years are approximately 2 cents an hour. I would happily pay hundreds of dollars/pounds for a worthy AOE4 . I know of no other RTS game that is so playable (2 hours every night for 5 years). So condolences to Ryzon and hope my game of choice is back soon.

ok -- that was a pretty humble response --
you CAN get a TON better. Get your basic build orders from GS's guide. No joke for all civs this is an excellent starting point.
I'm kind of a big deal.

Serious response (honest) Since my children have been able to slay me on any console game for 10 years or since they were 10 I honestly think expert micro is a skill requiring speed of reaction faster than most middle aged players can match , especially after a medicinal scotch or two.

ok since we're being serious and honest.
I also have kids but younger than yours and I like to relax and have a drink or two while playing, but you can be decent. My real rank is 2Lt on a competitve account with which I don't bash.
edit: but yes ... i like the term 'medicinal' after 8 year of marriage and 2 kids lol
I'm kind of a big deal.

I fully agree; even though I'm quite familiar with the technical side of this game I'll never be as good as the best of the youngsters here simply because I can no longer react as quickly as they do.

Re: Time to reflect
I think it may be a factor. The oldest top level treaty player is 40 years old (might be 41 now? idk), was 38/39 in his prime. BedingBedang. He was not always consistent, but wow there were games where my jaw would drop... being pulped back to my base, having a 1300 score vs his 1900 by someone a quarter of a century older than myself! Of course, it didn't happen often :)
